Default How much loss is expected?

On the day before surgery on April 29, I weighed in at 300 lbs exactly. Today I weighed in at 281.

Nice, I know...but I fear I am not losing at a good pace. To lose 70 lbs in 6 months (half to goal) I would have to lose >3 lbs/week, and factoring that slowdown at plateau points, I question whether I am losing fast enough now to make that mini goal in 6 mos.

Can y'all tell me how much you had lost in the first 3 weeks? Had you logged your food? How many calories were you taking in? I range from 600-950 calories/day...is that a lot?

Not panicking yet.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

you cant think of it that way. i mean, when i was losing i would lose a chunk and then nothing. i never lost xlbs each week. which was very discouraging for me. but in the long run it works. keep your chin up. you're doing fine.

the first 3 weeks i lost 26 lbs if i remember correctly BUT, my "diet" was all fluids for the most part jello and crystal light. I am seeing a lot more newbies actually allowed to eat food which boggles my mind. lol! ...and i never saw a loss like i did the first 3 weeks again.

hi ,well thats a pound a day so far,not bad at all, its hard to judge by what others lose we are all so different i have lost over three stone in 11 wks but then again i have plateaued for the last two weeks nothing in weight but in inches defo, i have never counted calories but in the first two weeks it was sloppies only so that speeds up loss anyway, i wouldnt stress too much about comparing yourself to others just enjoy the losses and i wish you good luck and welcome to the losers bench x

Wt. loss will vary with every patient. The heavier you are to start with, the quicker the initial wt loss. Everybody also has some type of plateau. Follow your surgeon's protocol, and you should do fine. I lost 100 pounds in 7 months post op, which is just under 1/2 pound per day. Details on my progress is on my blog link on my profile page. I like Kenya was still in the fluid part of things. Dave is right in telling you we all lose different. Your calories look good to me. Its good they are where they are so you can heal better and get your energy back. It wasnt until I was able to eat the amount your taking in..... that I acutally could function. Mines a long story but to me your doing very well. My own surgeon likes to see people lose it slow because they in the long run will learn to keep it off.

I am out 9 weeks and I have lost 36 lbs. I feel like I am losing alot slower than the others did but I remind myself that I started at a lower weight than some of the others. I also have alot of energy and I attribute that to the fact that I can eat all things, just less. I never felt weak. As long as your weight is going down that is great. I average about 1,000 cal. per day.

Every person is different. If you follow your docs rules, you will lose weight. it works! I never lose punds every week. I will go a couple weeks with no pound loss and then all of a sudden I lose like 15 pounds.

I think I did about 15 at 3 weeks. I do stair steps, which is to say I drop, level out, drop, level out...... and when I get stuck its weeks.

I don't remember at 3 weeks, but

at 3 months, I had lost 65
at 6 months, I had lost 101
at 9.5 months, I've lost 125

It slows down and everyone will lose at different paces....I'm lucky if I get in 1000 calories...and I"m nearly 10 months out.

You're doing fine. You lose in humps and bumps, so long as you are following your surgoen's instructions, you will get to where you need too.
