The mortality rate for weight/height ratios were checked, and the range where mortality was lowest was designated normal. 18.5-24.9. The mortality goes up whichever way you go, whether lower or higher.
By that measure, having a BMI of 26.5 is a WHOLE lot less risky than a BMI of 41! So that confirms my gut feeling that I'm healthier now than then! (Gotta be really sensitive to that feeling now - there aren't as much guts any more as there used to be!!)

So I guess it boils down to how much effort you want to put into getting that last percentage point and what the perceived benefits of it are. Sounds like something not to put a lot of worrying into to me!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You are quite right there.
Do you know that there is data out now that by some simple life style interventions, the rate of developing diabetes in high risk groups can be reduced by 55-58%%?
Changes in life style to
1) reduce your weight by 5%
2) keep your total fat intake under 30% of total calorie intake
3) saturated fat over 10% of calorie intake
4) get in fiber more than 15g/1000kcal
5) moderate physical activity over 30min per day, or total 4hrs/week.
