Question Dumping & Drinking

Is there anyone out there that doesn't dump?

Ok my surgery and recovery have been very routine with no issues. I feel great and am very energized. After surgery I have been on a 2 week liquid diet and then a 2 week pureed diet. Well I have 2 days left of the liquid diet and I've cheated a little...I had a itsy bitsy taste of mashed beans and a tiny bit of rice. Now I did chew the hell out of it so by the time I was done chewing it was pretty much liquid. lol Neither affected me. I hope I didn't do any early damage to my pouch.

I've also had a glass of light grape juice (still tons of sugar) with no ill effects. Maybe because the quantity was so small.

Also when people say sip sip sip...how frequently are you talking about? I seem to be able to sip every few seconds with no problem. Will that cause the pouch to stretch?

I think I am going nuts. Off work with nothing to do but think!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You're doing fine.
No, sipping ever so often won't stretch your pouch. You're told to sip sip sip because you won't be able to gulp or guzzle down liquids, your pouch is still to tender for that, and you can easily gulp air along with fluids. On the other hand, unless you sip ever so often, you won't be able to make the 64oz per day goal, and will get dehydrated.
As for cheating--don't make it a habit, but just once won't damage your pouch. However, certain kinds of food too early out than your pouch can adjust to, may be stressful for the pouch, so, even if you were okay this time, you just may the next time.

Almost 2 weeks out, and at home, is when you start getting antsy because you are feeling better than last week, but you are still too weak to do anything for a certain amount of time, so your head starts playing games with you.

Hang in there, things will get better as you go along. (((((((HUGS)))))))

There are def different things that make different people dump. Some on fat and sugar, some not. Just follow the rules and you will do just fine.

You sound like you're doing fine. You can eat most things in tiny amounts without ill effects. You find out the hard way what your limits are!
I'd be careful with the rice though. I'm 4 months out and still haven't had any and lots of people have trouble. In tiny amounts it's not bad, but don't get brave with it!

No dumping to date being 6 weeks out. But then again was bragging about not barfing until a week ago.

Yeah, juice should permanently be off your list. Your head does tell you you want things. The purpose of the liquids for the first two weeks is to reset your metabolism, anything you eat WILL interfere with that process, especially carbs and sugar. Do it by the book and you'll be fine. Allowing yourself those cheats this early one is not good. Hang in there. Send out posts and let us help you get over your cravings instead.
