| What to expect 3-4 weeks out
Hi all,
I have read alot about the first week or two post surgery. But I am wondering what to expect 3-4 weeks out.
I am trying to decide if I will be ready to go back to work after 2 weeks or will I need 3 or 4 weeks off.
Cheryl

I was ready to go back to work within days after surgey. I had previous surgeries and new i needed to get out of bed as soon as possible, start walking. I really felt good, didnt feel as though i had surgery. I had requested 2 weeks off for surgery. I was definately ready after one week. Everybody is differnt, you need to know your body. I'm sure everyone is different. Good luck

I took 4 weeks off. I was physically able to go back after about a week to 10 days but I am so glad I didn't. There is a lot to do.....getting a schedule for protein, walking, vitamins, organizing clothes..... I actually could have used another week for self care but financially I was pushing it with 4. Some people have some severe fatigue after surgery so that is one thing to think about. Everyone is different. I am a workaholic so it was hard to stay away, but so worth it!

Depends on what type of work you do too, if you have a physicaly demanding job you will need more time then if you have a job where you arent as active

I went back after 2 weeks...P/T though. I did that until the 6 weeks were up. I stayed so tired! It really does depend on the person.

As of right now I'm scheduled to go back after 2 1/2 weeks (surgery 6/4, returning to work 6/23). I work in the court system so it's pretty much an office job. The last week I'm off I've kind of made "plans" every day to do something: walking at the mall with a friend one day, a condo board meeting, a cancer benefit walk meeting I'm planning, etc...just to get me out and about and on more of a schedule...and so I don't lose my mind being cooped up at home.

I took 4 weeks and glad that I did. I felt fine but was tired and shaky. I made sure I went out each day just to get out of the house. After 20 minutes of shopping I became very weak and shaky and had to head home to relax.

I think we are all different. I was so tired. I took long naps all day for the 4 wks I stayed home. Even when I went back to work I felt sleepy alot. But as they say its up to your body.
