I would like to hear from anyone who has had to have the hernia surgery after the weight loss surgery.

I have a hernia. I can't have it operated on for a year as I am only six months out from GBP surgery and am still in weight loss. For now I have to wear a girdle, spanx or long line bra to help support the muscles in the area. I also have to watch for any distended bloating that does not go back in.

I look like I am having a baby after I eat. My stomach sticks out and it is hard. I have to rest for a while after I eat and then the stomach goes down and the pain relents and I can go back to work.

I read the boards about people being tired after eating and so I thought it was normal and almost didn't ask the Dr. about it when I went in for my checkup, I was so glad I did. He checked for the hernia and found it right away.

Has anyone had the hernia surgery? What was you experience? Did you have the skin tightened while having that surgery (a suggestion my Dr. gave). I would be glad to hear from someone.

Thank you.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes I just recently had hernia sugery. It was an umbilical hernia ( not sure if I spelled that correctly or not??) I had it about 3 weeks ago. I am just over a year out. My one year anniversary was April 11th. However, my surgeon did not reccommend plastics at this point even though I was trully hoping they could tie it in at this point. He strongly reccommended to wait at least 18-24 months out for plastics which I have seen many people post on here too. However, I could not wait til then due to the hernia. It had "popped" a couple times on me and it was not a good situation. But I am doing fine now and backto normal and I can say my stomach feels so much better. no more of that blated tight knot feeling in my stomach and etc....

Thank you for your input and help. How long did it take you to feel recovered from the hernia surgery?

I see your picture often. I'm sure you know you look great, hearing it one more time surely does not hurt. YOU LOOK GREAT!
