The process you have to go through mainly depends on what insurance you have, etc. Have you already talked to a doctor about this?

Depends on your doctor and health insurance so check into both. Mine was a process that took about 2 years from start to finish. (would have only taken 1 year, but I had some thyroid issues I had to get stabilized first)

If you are paying cash, it will be a lot quicker since you dont have to get it approved. But you will need to see what type of classes you may or may not have to take prior to surgery. Mine was about a month (start to finish) before I was approved, had all of my classes and got scheduled. Then the appt was about a month away because it was the summertime and most of the teachers were getting theirs done over the summer. I would contact the surgeon and ask them as everythig is going to be different with each surgeon. Good Luck to you.

Your doctor should be able to tell you what steps you will need to do and about how long it would take.

The process for each doctors office is completely different.
I waited 3 months to get to the seminar, then waited another 1 1/2 months for my first appt and then my surgery was 3 months after that. So I inquired about it in June and had my surgery the following January - but the longest part was waiting for the seminar. If they have a seminar right when you call, it's quicker. I know someone who only waited a week for the seminar last month and her surgery is in August

Its hard to say then. You could call them and ask how long their process takes and what it is that they require you to do in order to be approved, then the surgeon him/herself. They are probably going to require you to do a few different things before the approval. It def takes a lot of research. I went to my consult with what my insurance co required, which was 6 months of documented history of being overweight. I just got a copy of a progress note from my PCP for the prior 6 months. Then I had to go to a Nut and a Psych visit for my surgeon. I went to my initial consult with my progress notes and they opened a case that same day with my insurance co and I was approved on the first go within a month.

Even though you're not medical assistance, July is unrealistic.
Any reputable surgeon, in my opinion, will have you MINIMALLY meet with a nutritionist at least once and see a therapist at least once to make sure you're okay for surgery. Additionally, I had to have many labs done, EKG, chest xray, etc. All of that takes much time so July isn't realistic for having surgery. This fall is much more like it.

I agree that July is unrealistic. There is a process you have to go through. I think at the minimum it would take 6 months or so.
