Unhappy Gall Bladder needs to come out

Well, I went to my 4 month check up and I mentioned that I get a pain sometimes after eating. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder. The test results came back and I have "a distended gallbladder with sludge and a small polyp." My surgeon and my pcp agree that it needs to be removed. Just having surgery 4 months ago I am not thrilled with going to the hospital again so soon. I already have 5 scars from WLS and now I will have three more!!!

I would love to hear from those of you who had your gallbladder removed post WLS and what your recovery time was like. I felt great at 2 weeks post op from my WLS so I am planning on being back to normal after 1 week after this surgery. Did anyone have this as an outpatient or did you have to stay overnight in the hospital?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't know about post wls, but we do gallbladders everyday at work on an outpatient basis. Hopefully yours will be quick and simple too. Good luck!

Hun I have had six surgeries in the last year. This one will or should be so much easier then the WLS and well just like with my cancer what are you going to do but not dwell and get it over with and get on with feeling better. Hang in there girl all will be well in the end..

Sorry to hear that, but it does happen pretty often.
From what I know, a lot of the surgeons will use the same ports they used for the bypass surgery, so you won't get any new scars, just the incisions having to heal again.

I had mine removed last year before my WLS and I was out for less than two weeks. After the first few days you will be okay. My mother co-worker just had his taken out two weeks ago and is back to work. You will feel a lot better after having them remove it. I am glad I had mine done before hand.
