6 yrs and I rarely eat salads...they're kind of a waste to me and most times, no matter what dressing I use they give me really loose stools..not worth the after time. I use to eat them more when I was on a 'beat' job where I walked a lot so it would fill me up for awhile and I could get more down.
but anymore..salads..maybe every once in a while. I know a lot of posties that eat them..but I still aim for at least 90 grams protein a day and salad is waste on that bit.

Ate salads w/ meat and cheese around 3 months out and is pretty much one of my staple meals now. Never had a problem. I do try to use more green leafy lettuce for more nutrients like romaine or spinach instead if only iceburg.

I also eat lettuce with no difficulty. If I am eating a salad at a salad bar, I find that I can eat alot more as it breaks down to mostly water content. I will also buy the differant types Romaine, etc. and also, I never pour dressing over it at all,.. Now I dip my fork into the dressing. Its amazing the amount of how little of dressing I do eat now. I also add alot of cheese, meats, tomatoes, eggs, etc trying to make it healthier. I also love to eat lettuce salads with my cottage cheese. Ahhh sounds good right now.
I personally dont know anyone that has problems with lettuce.
Not to say there are those out there I dont know about.
So yes, its something you can eat down the road as a postop. But always remember, eat just so little, as when your main course comes, you need to fill up the pouch with that protein first, then eat more salad, if you want. Bet you cant eat all that food though as a postop.....

At my 2m check up, I asked my doc if I could eat salads and he said yes. As long as I was getting my protein in, it would be fine. I celebrated that day with a salad at lunch- I ordered a side salad and barely ate half. Instead of the fatty salad dressings, I'm eating olive oil and vinegar. I can totally handle the salads no problem- I can't believe how much I missed eating them- Good luck to ya!

I order salads when I eat out because they are just protein and vegetable and they do not involve any fried food. I usually leave all of the lettuce behind and just eat the protein and other vegetable that are not lettuce. It all agrees with me fine.

I like to eat lettuce in the winter and spring, becasue I have my other garden veg. in the garden that I eat during the summer. During the winter and spring I eat lettuce at least about 2 to 3 times a week. Now this is what works best for me is that I eat my lettuce an hour before my dinner or supper and after an hour I eat my meats and veg. if there is any room. That seems to work best for me, becasue I just am not going to give up lettuce. Becasue the lettuce seems to work threw me pretty fast and then after an hour plenty of room for my protein. This might be wrong but this is what works for me. I am big on veg and fruit and I will not miss out on either one of them so I accomadate my pouch with what I want and just space the time. I might be weird but that is what works for me.

I should mention that when we go out to eat I look for protein first and rarely eat lettuce when we eat out. Just the fact that I eat lettuce at home an hour before my meal. So when I go out to eat, I have to concentrate on my protein frist.

I eat a salad and or raw veggies every day. I love them. I too try to have a protein in the salad or on the side. I can eat much more than most so room for both protein and veggies is not much of a concern for me. I have found though that if I eat carrots too fast (or any raw veggie that is hard) I get a HORRIBLE stomach ache so make sure you chew really good. I was just saying to my husband the other day - just my luck that carrots can upset my tummy, but man salt and vinegar chips go down easily |
