Hi everyone! I had my surgery- three days out. Surgeon was good, hospital staff terrible, but I'm still kicking. What can be done with post op gas pains? Do Rolaids or Zantac help? I have lower belly gas pains- they are driving me nuts. If it weren't for those, I'd feel pretty good. Advice?

Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench!!! May your recovery continure well. First thing, walk around to get it moving. Second thing, call your surgeon and ask if it's okay to take GasX, that seems to be the best med overall with post op gas problems. However, keep in mind this only takes care of the intestinal gas. The gas in your tummy outside your pouch and intestines (your surgeon had to gas you up there for a good view of the surgery area) won't go away that easily, so the best thing to do there is walk around several times a day so it will move and be absorbed into the tissues. ((((((HUGS)))))) Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

DEF...walk as much as you can. I know that it sounds crazy...but it really does help. I was like a lil granny in a race walking around my kitchen and living room the first few days. It really does help to get it out.

Welcome to the losers bench. As for the gas just as everyone said walking is the best solution. Gas X helps but walking is the best thing for you.
