HI All,
I had GB on 6/30/08 and was doing really well with the weight loss, but for the last 3-4 days have lost nothing. Obviously, I am still on the shakes, so nothing in the diet has changed. Am still walking, and didn't think I would reach an plateaus this early on. Has anyone else had this happen? Weight seems to coming off pretty slow for me! Please share if this has happened to any of you. Thanks....

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

At 3 weeks post op, I was beginning to eat some solid foods. First week liquids, next two weeks soft foods (scambled eggs, soft fish, etc.) and 3rd week I got to try various food--avoiding beef until near 6 months. You may start to do better when you get some solid foods to be processed and get your metabolism working. Stalls are not uncommon. I had a few times where no weight was lost in 7-10 days, but I did manage to lose 100 pounds in 7 months post op, a daily average of just under 1/2 pound per day. My profile page may be of some help to you. DAVE

Hang on tight it is just the beginning. The first 2 months were like that for me. I was and still am a pretty slow loser but that first month was up and down nonstop. Heck I came home from the hosptial 12 pounds heavier then I went in and it took me 2 weeks to get that off. Yeah, I was very disapointed.

Hang in there you are doing just great. Your body is still healing. I also noticed that you are on the lower side of being over weight. Some believe the heavier you are the faster you lose and the lighter you are the slower it comes off.

welcome to the wonderful world of weight loss!!!! You will have many times like this and it will nearly drive you nuts......take measurements often....when the scales stall, you will notice you are redistributing! Your weight may not change, but you may change sizes....most of all, STICK TO YOUR PLAN. This tool works...there are too many here who have gone before you and cleared the way! IT DOES WORK!!! Keep your chin up and keep your eye on the prize.....!

First off, at 3 weeks out, your body is still healing.
Yes, it is still healing inside, even if the incisions on your skin have healed.
Please don't forget that parts of your insides were cut, separated, rearranged, which is a very very big event for the body. It will take 3-4 months until EVERYTHING heals completely, and their functions are adjusted and realigned.
All the way through your rapid weight loss change, your body will have to keep on readjusting a whole lot. So, you will lose, readjust, lose, readjust and on and on.

Your weight loss will not be in one smooth fell swoop, but in humps and bumps.
Also, everyone loses differently.
So long as you stick diligently to your surgeon's program and instructions, you will lose the weight your body needs to lose.

(((((HUGS)))) Hang in there, one of the aspects of this journey is that you will need a lot of patience the whole duration.

Thanks to all of you who responded--you made me feel so much better and I don't mean to be such a baby! I'm a nurse and should know better, and this is the most amazing weight loss tool I've ever used! You are so right--the inches are definitely changing even if the scale isn't right now. Your support means so much, and in reading most of your profiles, all I can say is way to go on your weight loss!!!

I love reading the information these ladies provide and hope to remember a lot of what they said when I'm in your shoes, fresh out of surgery. chin up... these ladies know what the're talking about. (and gentlemen.. sorry guys... I'm used to chatting on a Mom's board of all women.. LOL so used to typing "ladies")

Yay Gidget!

I think surgeons and nuts should bring up the "three week stall" or something like that. Your body is healing BIG TIME in there, even though the whole of you is feeling pretty good! Your body has decided to concentrate on the healing process and is storing nutritional supplies for that (or it is starvation mode, where body is preparing for a winter of no food...take your pick.) My first stall was in week three and lasted 10 days.

Know that, with the limited amt. of calories you are taking in, there is nowhere for your weight to go but down.

Congrats on your surgery! and we LOVE questions...keeps us on our toes that way.
