Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had one and my doc just mentioned it to me an aside and said that it's very common. Most obese people have them because of all the extra weight we have pushing things to where they don't belong! Mine was mild apparently, but I don't know it it's severe if that would make any difference.

I had a hiatal hernia that wasn't discovered until I was having WLS. The surgeon repaired the hernia at that time. I don't think it made my recovery any worse. Good luck to you!

Don't worry about the hernia.
It's very common in obese people as Kelly said, and can be easliy fixed during your surgery if it is severe enough that it needs to be fixed. If it's mild, just losing weight will probably rectify the condition.

From my experience of imaging HH's (I am an xray tech), they are right there, at the esophageal/gastric junction...it is theoretically an easy repair, as the surgeon is right there at the time of the bypass.

You will have great success after weight loss with any type of reflux, or heartburn issues also. It goes away, and yes you can have surgery, with this. It will be repaired if more severe, or with just losing the weight.....
Good news for you.

Yes I had one and didn't know about it. It was repaired right then when I had my surgery. Actually, I had it twice and each time I didn't know about it until I had surgery and my doctor fix it right then and there. It shouldn't be a problem at all.

I had one too, as well as GERD. Both went away on their own after the surgery.

I also had ulcers that were treated before the surgery. THey won't do the suergery if you have an unhealed ulcer.

Hi. I have GERD a sliding Hiatus Hernia and Barretts esopegous also have an inflamed esopegous. How long does it take for the ulcers to heal so that you can have the surgery. I was booked to have my surgery and they cancelled it for 2 months due to the ulcers and inflamation. Is this normal??? Thank you
