Exclamation lactose intolerant

hi all

you might remember a couple of weeks ago i wrote about going to the loo so often ive worn the tiles out, and the fact that id had my gallbladder out and needed to watch what im eating , and i did , well after the last 10 days im not a happy bunny at all ive had the runs really badly all this time, my doc seems to think ive become lactose intolerant as the meds were not improving it in fact making it worse and what have they got in theml you guessed it lactose lol so i researched on here and read some posts by doc sane and then realised that my sweetners also contain lactose duh!! so today im trying to avoid all the lactose to see if it improves but my question to the doc is if this continues what am i going to eat to give me protien if i cant eat dairy products this has really got me down as id just got into a really good eating plan and i love a little cheese and hate my favorite cup of tea without some sort of sweetner in it , sorry im moaning cos i usually only do that in bed normally lol im a happy little bunny but i m really really fed up thanks for any advice jeanniexsx

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I, too, am lactose intolerant and I found a product by bariatricadvantage.com that is a lactose free protein shake. It's not too bad, but be careful not to overblend it, because I found that once in the blender, the 8oz becomes about 20 due to the amount of air in it! Good luck!

You've passed your 4 month mark, so you should try to get your protein in from fish, chicken, turkey, and other meats. Red meat may still be too much for you, but ground lean beef might sit well, too. Avoid meats with too much fat in them, the fat can make you ill, too.

Sometimes, the lactose intolerance seems to improve, after some time passes.
((((HUGS))) Hope you feel better soon.

I can't even imagine having to cut even more choices out of my life - I have cheese everyday and definitely sweetners! I hope you find a way around this and that eventually you can have minimal amounts of sweetners for your tea.

thanks all my doc rang me today and suggested it could be small bowel bacterial overgrowth ????? and that it could be treated quite sucessfully with augumentin or flagyl so ill give it a try and see thanks for all the other suggestions although i feel really isolated with this here in saudi arabia the language barrier for a start and as far as wls they are not up to that yet, they will be i suspect as they are becoming very large nation as there is nothing to do but eat here lol

early on I couldn't do milk and pre-surg had dair related issues..but post...early on no way but after 6 mos for sure a year out milk is no problem for me..although if I try to do skim or 1% will dump or get diarrhea.

Some of the docs here are starting to recommend pro biotics to take for a lot of the gut issues...I'd been taking them for over a year now and they seem to help slow down the fast movement of bowel I get from having the open stoma.

Sometimes it's a simple fix.

Beans, shrimp, crab, fish and tofu work great on protein for me. I also grill a bunch of chicken and put it in 2oz baggies cut up for a quick snack.

You doc is talking about C-diff and I had that too after my surgery. It is caused by the anti-biotics killing off the good bacteria in your gut. One round of flagyl and I was a new person!
