I had my surgery on the 23 of July. I sip and potty 6. Is this right? What all are you sipping besides water? This is the first day that I haven't fallen asleep every time I turn around. Am I sipping to much? Not sick at all, You guys seem to have all the answers. I know you've already been ther done that. You want to sip as much as you can so that you can stay hydrated. And you will def be going to the potty if you are sipping. It does get easier though...it takes some time, but it does! Congrats on your new life!!!

Oh yes, very right. Plus you still have all the IV fluid that was pumped into your body while you were in the hospital. It helps to make up for the fact that early out even though it's all you're doing (drinking), it isn't enough. I was one of the lucky ones who've experienced little or no nausea. Just consider yourself lucky as well and keep doing what you're doing! Congratualtions and welcome to the losers bench!

Just remember that everything you are feeling, we have all encountered, you are totally normal. And also you will feel really tired in the begining, just try to rest as much as possible so you can retain your strength. Because once you start loosing, it will be hard to staple you down, you'll feel great just give it a little more time. The beginning is rough I won't lie, but in the end it was the best thing I have ever done for myself in my entire 38 years of life.

Thanks for all the comments. When I said potty I meant Potty. That's been the biggest thing. Well I'm glad to know I'm normal. Anyone know what that word means? Normal? LOL

Tootie, I was the potty queen after surgery...and not in a good way. I think the clense before surgery wasn't done! LOL Keep sipping- Crystal light and Propel were my drinks of choice, but go with what's good. I did not have nausea or throwing up, so be happy you don't either! |

If you are having diarhea report it to your surgeon. He may want you to get stool sample test to make sure everything is okay and you don't have C-Diff. The anti biotic you get during surgery sometimes kill off the beneficial bacteria in your gut and cause the runs. A course of Flagyl will cure it. Or it may be nothing at all. Better safe than sorry.

Hi Tootie, I'm 8 days out and was having loose and constant bm's for the first five days. Things are better now. I either just sip water or pour a little of my protein bullet into the bottle. It makes it taste like kool-aid and helps me get my protein in.
