Default low iron and low B12, can someone answer questions??

Hello everyone. I am just over 6 and a half months out and my iron and b12 have become an issue. My doctor put me on iron pills and b12 (sublingual) but i have been told by some ppl that the iron pills wont be absorbed. Im just curious what some of you's have taken that had the same problem, the iron im on right now is ferrous gluconate.

any imput would be great.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had problems with iron and that is what the doctor gave me and it worked. Just follow your docs instructions.

I couldn't tolerate Gerrous gluconate so I am taking the iron pills from Bariatric Advantage, Passion Fruit Chewable 29mg's. I was told to take the iron with a small glass of OJ and at least 1 hour before your Calcium. No problems as of yet.

I've been taking 1000 of the B-12 Bil since surgery and at my 6 mo labs I was way, way over where I needed to be. I now take 500 every other night.

I get my B12 shot every month and take the Ferrous Iron daily. So far so good with me. They also have a Ferrous Iron with Colace in it...for bathroom issues!

Follow your surgeon's instructions.
Some people are unable to absorb iron, but not all. You won't find out till you try.
(((((HUGS))))) Hope your data comes up to speed soon.

Everyones body is different. I had alot of trouble with iron. Last year I was given an iron drip and it really helped. Im also on Ferrex 150 which is a prescription from the dr. I take vit. C with it to help the iron absorb. This does not cause the constipation that other iron does. My last blood work was perfect. What works for me may not work for you and vise versa. Always Always let your dr. deciede. Good luck

I take chewable iron, twice a day, I was low at 6 mos too. I started getting the b12 shots, they're cheap, my sister and law showed my hubby how to do it. Whole Foods has the chewable iron, I was told to take it with chewable vitamin C or with V8 to help it absorb, so that's what I do, every day. If you want it I will get you the name if you don't have a whole foods. Its only $3.88 a bottle too, yipee.

My sister in law is an RN, she does it and then taught my hubby to do it. My doctor wont do it cause they don't make enough money.
