Unhappy Please HELP!!

I am having one of those very down days, wondering if this was all worth it, and wondering why this is so hard! I am 6 1/2 weeks out and every day is a struggle. I have had transition issues, which after a stricure dilation should be resolved, but I am not hungry!! I am having trouble planning anything to eat, and forcing myself to drink when I don't thik I can hold another drop. It is 6 PM and I am forcing myself to drink protein water to get all of my fluids ion, but my calories are only about 580 and I know that before bed I will need to fit something else in! This just seems to be so much work! I start the day off either with a protein shake or Fiber One Yogurt with Unjury, then try to get 16-32 ounces of liquid in and then it's time to try to figure out what to have for lunch. I am just coming off of pureed's so can only manage about 2 tbsp. of anything like tuna or cheese. I get that down and then it's time for another protein shake an hour later. There just aren't enough hours in the day for all of the food and liquid. Add to that constipation so bad, that I feel like I have given birth naturally to a 20 pound baby. I know some of you must have experienced this, and I really need help. I know the journey will be rewarding and that it will get easier, but right now, all I am doing is crying and wondering if I made the right choice.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hang in there -- I think Kath used to tell us to "keep your eye on the prize" and it really does help get thru the tough times! It's a lot of planning and work early out coz you take in so little, it's gotta be an ongoing effort but trust me, it gets so much better and easier when your food choices get larger and you get a bit more to eat - like at 6 mos out. Be encouraged ~ you'll make it!

Poor thing! Wish I could give you a big hug!

Sorry things are still rough for you. I know that getting over the stricture was a big deal, and I was hoping and praying that things were looking up for you. I don't really have much experience or know what to recommend, but have you considered a different form of protein? Shakes are too heavy for me--they made me gag. I find ready to drink Isopure, which tastes similar to a Crystal Light, to be lighter and easier to digest. You get to count them as a liquid (at least that's my surgeon's policy). Is there any food that actually sounds good? Maybe you could modify it to fit your dietary needs. I know that when you don't feel like eating, it's tough to get down something you aren't particularly fond of. Hang in there!

Maybe I shouldnt admit this but,........ I am over a year out and I dont think I hardly ever get in 60 g of protein, it may always be a struggle. I think you are doing fine and these feelings are normal. As always follow what your surg. has reccomended and "keep your eye on the prize" (tks. Kath). Kathy

((((((HUGS))))) This is why this is no *easy fix*. It is as much of a struggle as going the conventional way, only the struggle is different. The roller coaster ride.
Take one day at a time, one thing at a time, and as Trulykath and everyone says, keep your eyes on the prize, a year from now may seem far away, but when you are there, you will be able to look back and marvel at what you have been able to achieve.

Gidget,
I'm so sorry to hear that you had the problems early out. I had a complication, and getting in food and fluids was/is such a struggle. My prayers for some relief for you soon. I am six weeks out and it is better than it was. I had a wound infection and kidney infection--and I had to add antibiotics to my list of things to get down

It does get better. . . hang in there!
Becky

I did not have any complications what so ever, but I remember that I hated food for a long time and had to force myself to eat. I did alot protein drinks to keep up my protein. My food choices at the beggining was so small and once I could eat chili, I practically lived on chili, becasuse it actually agreed with me the best and then as time went on I just added foods till they agreed with me. I remember making chicken and two bits I puked it all up and the the next morning I tried it again and just the smell of any kind of chicken or even turkey gaged me. It took months before I could tolerate chicken or turkey. Now I have no problem with chicken or turkey, actually I can eat pretty anything. Except for sandwich meats, sausage, I am thinking it is the preservatives in the meat. I have to make most of my foods from scratch, well it is healthier anyway to make things from scratch, this way you know what is in your food. I take just one bit of the sandwich meats and my pouch sure lets me know that it is a no no for my pouch, pouch starts to rumble and I have this sick pouch feeling from the sandwich meats and sausage. So to me it just is not worth thee suffering. So give it more time and it will get much better, Like Doc said, in a year you will marvel at how great you look and feel.
So hang on there, it will get better.
