Default charlie horses

a few months back i had posted something about charlie horses, i was having issues with them..since then i havent had a problem...well i had 2 nights in a row where i was woken up, and these are the worst charlie horses ever!! usually you can shake them off and they are gone..these are horrible..you can feel the baseball size knot and my toes point straight up and i cannot move them, and this last between 5-10 min. so i got on a site to see what the causes are...low potassium..which cannot be the case, i eat like 2 bananas everyday lately...and i came across that drinking too much water can cause this too, because overloading on water brings your sodium levels down...both days that i had this happen i had drinkin 160 oz of water...could this be the problem doc?? yesterday i didnt drink as much and it didnt happen???

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

WOW....that's a LOT of water...I thought I drank a lot...I'm usually around 100 ounces a day....that much water is leaching the potassium out of your muscles, causing the spasms. Even with the bananas, you may want to pick up an over-the-counter potassium supplement...I take 2 potassium tablets EVERY day....

160oz water is waaaaay too much!!! The upper limit is 100oz or so. Too much water will dilute your blood and lower the contents of the electrolytes (salts) in your blood and flush them out of your body, no matter how many bananas you are eating, as well as taxing your kidneys due to the overflow of the water it has to process. It will also tax your heart, as that much water is going to increase the amount of blood (diluted as it is) circulating in your body.

Dawn, I have had this happen to me twice, and I noticed it was when I had upped my water way up like yours. I believe that's exactly what's causing it. I hope you get to feeling better. These things are terrible. I have even drank pickle juice to help with them. The relief is almost immediate with the pickle juice.
