Thumbs up Hello All. I went to see my reg. doc today

Hello,
Just got back from a visit with my regular doctor. He did urine, blood, and an xray of my chest. Everything looked good except my urine was really dark. He thinks that the infection is coming from this pick line so he wrote me a script for a liquid antibiotic and liquid Lortab (which contains tylenol )for the fever and back pain. My regular surgeon wil take the pick line out tomorrow and hopefully everything will be all right. I also told my regular doc. about how depressed I have been. Someone can call and say Hi and I begin to ball like a baby. It is very embarassing. Cause there really is nothing to be crying about. I have always had a good attitude about everything and have never been one of those touchy feely fragile types. So he also wrote me a prescription for an anti depressant that can be crushed. He said it won't make me sleepy at all and if I take it in the mornings it has been know to give people energy. I was like "sign me up for that". The only bad thing about it is that it takes about 3-4 week for you to notice a change. So my poor husband is going to have to deal with this a while longer. Well now that I Have probably bored you all to death with this long post I will end it by saying. I really don't know what I would do if I did not have this post and you people to vent to. I love it when yall post returns to me but I also truely love reading about everyone else. Thanks everyone for welcoming me to your board.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Today is the first time I have been weighed since my surgery on 11/10. And I am very disappointed. I have only lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks very diappointing. I think the reason is the TPN that they have running thru my pick line. I know it is loaded with calories )which makes no sense for a gastric bypass surgery patient. Thats the only thing I can figure out that could be causinging ime not to lose more. Since I drink all sugar free liquids, 1 egg and 3 oz of tuna or chicken with F/F salad dressing and that is all I am eating a day. Besides the TPN. But anyway very depressing. But
today is my first day off the TPN and I will get my pick line removed tomorrow. How much should a person have lost by now?

that sounds SO MUCH BETTER...I'm so glad you went to your regular doctor...when you were describing the pain, I thought it sounded like kidney/bladder infection...

Keep us posted on you!!

You will have to remember that you are still early out from surgery and your body needs to MEND and RECOVER from the major surgery you had, and your body is going to need heck of a lot of nutrition for this-- just the mending and recovering. If you lost any large amount of weight at this time, your body will not be recovering as it should, and unless everything is healed inside, and the functions are readjusting to your new plumbing, you will not lose much, your body can't afford to. The quicker you recover, the better your weight loss journey will be later on.
Do not be impatient. You need to stick to your surgeon's dietary instructions and program for good recovery and successful weight loss. This will take time, and the first thing you need to do is to set up good habits that will last you a life time-- this surgery is only a tool, and unless you change your life style to healthy eating-good foods with good nutrition in moderate amounts-and healthy exercise and healthy way of thinking-- and not watch the scale with a hawk's eye.
((((((HUGS)))))) Hope you start feeling better soon.

I'm glad your regular doc helped you out. Sounds like he's giving you what you need. You've had so much trouble that I would think your body is still reeling from all of it. Give yourself a break from the scale (I need to take that advice too) and concentrate on taking care of you. Getting rid of that pic line should make you feel better too! Let us know how it goes.
