Default Are there meds that shouldn't be taken together??

I was talking on the phone with someone who is 2 weeks ahead of me (had her surgery Nov. 21). We were discussing how we were juggling all the eating and drinking etc. She emailed me later and said she was finding it hard especially when you can't take some of your meds with each other too. I wasn't told to make sure I didn't take certain meds with others and we go to the same practice. So...... should I be taking certain meds seperately??

I'm not on any meds other than for the surgery .... maybe that's what it is because I think she's on meds for something else too.

Here's what I'm taking....
Multivitamin
Famotidine for acid
Ursodiol for my galbladder
Ferocon for B12 + iron

I usually take one of each at the same time in the morning and a second dose of the bottom 3 in the evening.

Is that ok??

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Martha,

The only one I know of is that you can't take calcium within 2 hours of the multi vitamin. Because of absorbtion issues. Doc will probably explain better when she gets on.

Calcium cannot be taken with Iron nor the Multi. Something about "intrinsic factor" but I was daydreaming during that class. All I remember was take the calcium 2 hours before or after Iron or multi.

Actually, I take my calcium and multi together every morning (my multi does NOT have iron)....Iron will inhibit the absorption of the calcium! I take Bariatric Advantage...have from the word go and my labs have been stellar!

You need to keep your iron and calcium apart. If your multivitamin includes iron, that shouldn't be a problem.

I have heard when taking Biotin you need to take it 2 hours apart from other vitamins/meds. Is this true?
