Default heartburn!!! 911

k for about a week now....heartburn..not the worst heartburn ive ever had(i had it once realy bad before, but other than that its never been an issue)...but very constant. I dont have it first thing in the morning and it doesnt wake me up at night. It creeps up slowly ..all day long(could it be the lack of money at xmas). My surgeon called and i told him..he said over the counter stuff is fine...man the counter isnt near big enough. There is not enough Maloxx in the world to stop it. Infact...the maloxx is peppermint flavoured and i swear it makes it worse for a minute. Remember this is Canada..and we have free health care...therefore you wait months to see a doctor(unless your losing blood or other bodily fluids quickly)..as they have all moved to the states to work for real money(only the c average and the ones that feel to bad for us to leave are left). I wont likely get to see anyone for a month. Dont say milk..im so sick of milk, never did like it. IM about to go eat a snow bank to try and extinguish the flames..and its dark out..and i may not see the yellow stuff.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I was and still am on Prevacid Solutabs. They work wonders. Have your doctor order you some. Then go to Prevacid website and sign up and you get $25 off each month. Good luck on your pain.

the only thing that ever helped me was nexium. it use to be very expensive. now a 30 day supply is about 30.00 (without coverage) i dont know if its cheaper with insurance but it is worth a shot.

also, were you put on anything directly after surgery? i was on a course of zantac for the first 3 months post-op if i remember correctly.

there is nothing worse than an acid/reflux issue. i hope you find a way to alleviate it soon.

thanks guys!!!!
I will call my doctor and see...when i can get in to see him. Perhaps if i hassle my sexy surgeon again (im not kidding hes hot) ..he will see me again..weee. He never said a word about taking anything for heartburn...he sent me home with pain killers. So im taking it that... this is a side effect ? Oh well... ill take the side effects of weight loss over weight gain any day.

Down here where we have expensive and instantly available health care (for the moment, the new kid admires the Canadian model), Prilosec is available without a prescription. It works really well!

Pain killers can irritate the stomach/pouch surface. If you are still taking them, then get off them and see what happens. Maalox may work better without the interference of pain meds. Zantac, nexium, prilosec etc, H2 blockers or PPIs do a good job, too.

Thank you all!! again. No im not on the painkillers , infact of a bottle of 30 i may have taken 7...i hated them. Percoset is a horrible nasty sickening buzz. Nope this heartburn is au natural, i havent taken a painkiller since about 5 days out. I do think Prilosec is a prescription here...as is aleve. Apparently the govnmnt thinks we are not capable of reading labels or something.
Im calling the surgeon today as i KNOW i will be able to get ahold of him far quicker than my family doctor. Ill et you all know how i make out...

Pepcid AC is what I took. If I remember when I was in the hospital they had me on Pepcid.

I even give it to my dog when he has an upset tummy. The vet said it was okay for dogs.
