| Need help on adding calories....
Well.. I'm 2 weeks out and feeling FANTASTIC!!!! It doesn't bother me to eat or drink anymore, although I still can only drink water if it's flavored with CL Fruit Punch.
I need help increasing my calories but still staying w/in my allowable foods. My weight has been holding for 5 days now and I think it's because I'm taking in so few calories on the puree'd diet. I hadn't really been keeping track because my Dr. didn't require me to eat a certain number of calories yet, just to get in some puree'd food. I'm eating fine though, I've never been nasueas with any of the foods I eat. The problem is.. they're pretty boring with not a lot of calories.
Here is what I ate yeseterday as an example:
B: 1/4 C egg beaters - 50 calories
S: SF Carnation Instant Breakfast w/8 oz skim milk 150 calories
L: 1/2 can tuna w/1T Lt. Mayo w/few green beans 90 calories
S: Protein drink 90 calories
D: 1/2 can tuna w/lt mayo 80 calories
S: Low Carb Slim Fast 190 calories
Total 650 calories for the day. That's on the high end of what I'm doing. Right now, there are times I can't get in something because I just can't get it in. I am up to my 64 oz of fluids. The PA I saw said I can count my protein drinks as part of my water so 3-8oz protein drinks and 2-20oz bottles of water = 64 oz of fluids.
I'm limited in what I can eat according to my diet. I tried cottage cheese and about threw up, because of the taste, not because my tummy didn't like it... yuck. I'm going to try Ricotta cheese and some SF marinara today... The only cheese I can eat is cottage cheese and ricotta.
Any advice on increasing calories would be great.

Martha,
I got about the same number of calories on the pureed stage. I think it's normal. I am amazed you are able to get in all of your water already.
Try not to weight yourself for a week and see what happens. I think at this stage we get anxious to see the results.
Glad you are feeling great! It gets even better!

Martha,
I wouldn't worry about getting more calories at this point. I think the first 3 months you will probably only get between 500-750. There's usually a stall early out because your body is healing. THen it takes off and whoosh, the pounds start dropping. Just a little more patience hon, it's just about to start.

Sounds about right at where you are.
Barbie's right, your body is still healing, so give it time to do so first.
You'll do well enough, soon enough.

I had to do 2 full weeks of fluids before I got to go to the pureed stage and then only had to do 1 week of pureed before I could go on the soft solids. When I did get to do the pureed diet I scrambeled eggs made using pam cooking spray, canned chicken with fat free miracle whip and protein drinks where about all I ate. By the time the week was up I was so sick of those things. Also my doctor only allows between 400-600 calories daily until I lose all the weight I need to lose. So your calorie intake sounds about right to me. I think you are doing a good job. I did not lose anything my 3 week after surgery but I was back and forth from the hospital hooked to IV's and TPN so much I figured that was the reason. How much longer do you have to stay on pureed?

Martha, I think you're doing great. I think you're body is just taking time to heal. It will continue to let go of the weight when it's ready. Again, I think you're doing fantastic.

Thanks ladies... I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
Janice~ I did 1 week liquids after surgery.. then at my one week post op, I was changed over to the puree'd for a month. I go back on Jan. 13 for the next phase.

Your current program looks stellar to me. Your body is busy healing, like the others said. wait a week or two and be amazed by the results.

Martha - your diet and calorie intake looks almost exactly like mine right now. Two weeks after the surgery I stalled on weight loss for about 10 days (husband hid the scale). Give it a few more days and keep on with what you're doing, it sounds just right.
That's great news that you can drink anything now!
