Question when is too much caffeine?!

I was just wondering what is the threshold for caffeine intake a day? because since the winter has started I found out that I live literaly on caffeine and ~ 250 ml of water that's at the maximum estimates Yiykes!!!

- I wake up 5:20 I have one strong coffee mug
- during the day I have ~ 2 mugs of coffee
- maybe 2 cups of early grey tea ( fall in love with it recently) or green tea with mint or jassmine
- have one turkish coffee after lunch
- maybe another small cup of those instant 3 in 1 coffee packs at the GYM before I start or maybe between my classes to boost up my energy
- and maybe 1 or 2 (150 ml) diet coke cans during the day

hmmm water? I literally don't drink water at all during the day! if I go to the GYM and play non-water sports I have my 24oz bottle with me and I drink maybe 1/2 of it while playing.

My face and hands are dehydrated, I know caffeine drinks helps on dehydrating too.

what is the maximum intake a day? and is it harmfull to our health in general and to our pouch?

Thanks

Hanadi

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I can't help you there my dear sister but you sure do drink alot of caffeine. My dr. once told me for every cup of coffee yo drink, you should drink 2 cups of water since caffeine is so dehydrating.

hello chuppy!

hmmm i dont know. if i drink more than 5 cups i get very anxious. plus i thought caffeine made you retain water as opposed to dehydrating?? i guess that makes sense though now that i think about it.

my dr was against more than 1 cup of coffee per day because he said caffeine deteriorates the stomach walls. i have no idea if that is proven or what. i know early out it made me a it queasy but i dont know if it was just irritating as opposed to actual damage. these are great questions and i am sure doc will be on to clarify. i will check back to see what everyone says.

my Doctor told me no caffeine if i just had to have some just have one cup . Of course i don't listen while but if i'm not working i don't have any at all . i've been on vacation all week and i've only had decaf tea and i think when i go back to work thats all i'll have .
Before i had surgery my doctor took me off caffiene because the lining of my stomach was very irratated and he put me on prilosec and i still tske it . to keep my stomach from becoming irrated and i drink mint tea to soothe my stomach . Mint tea is supposed to be good for your stomach . plus it is decaffinated

hi!!! i LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee - start out every day with a strong cup of starbucks that i brew - but i do half caff (equal amounts of decaffinated and caffinated beans). will drink a couple of cups in the morning and then at least one large or tall cup of starbucks during the day, my nut says that we can drink up to 2 cups of caffeine per day. i do stretch it a bit. it is dehydrating though so you need to add back twice the amount in water. from the way i understand it we have to be careful of the caffeine because it can cause ulcers.

My doc also told me no more than one cup of any type of caffienated drink per day--if that!!! He would really like to limit it to one cup per week, but said no absolutely no more than one per day!!

Stick to decaf, and limit it to one or two at most if you must have it.
Caffeine is a diuretic--in other words, it promotes urination, so it will cause dehydration if you don't get in enough water to balance out the effect of caffeine.
Caffeine in coffee also irritates the stomach membrane. How much may differ with individuals, so some may do better than others, but I for one can't get in more than one cup a day without getting stomach pains, so I avoid coffee as much as I can. I don't have this problem with other fluids that have caffeine--in other words tea, so this may be due not just to caffeine, but caffeing in combo with something else that's included in coffee, and not in tea. Haven't check this out, though. so this particular stuff may be only about me.

I drink two large cups/day. I LOVE my coffee. 2x/week I go to Starbucks where their grande nonfat lattes count for 11 grams of protein!

When I am home on weekends, I may drink a cup of tea to keep me warm. yep it is caffeinated.

BUT I drink a LOT of water... I drink my usual water amount, then more water for every ounce of caffeine.

Well I LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE COFFEE!!! before surgery I had to have it in the morning or I would be sleepy the whole day. after surgery for about a year I didn't have any because I was trying to get in as much protein and water as possible. but little by little I started drinking it again and I can drink coffee all day and night long. I don't know if it's bad for us but I love it.
