Default Doc, one more question, please?

So my surgeon is leaning towards my new burping hobby as being my gall bladder and I have an ultrasound in the AM. Now, the questions....

My hubby's insurance changed at the beginning of the year, so my surgeon who did my RNY is no longer in-network for me. This concerns me but maybe it shouldn't. My thought was that as he did my RNY I would have felt much safer with him removing my gall bladder as he knows where all my stuff is in there! Is having a non-WLS surgeon remove a gall bladder a big deal? Can any general surgeon do it?

Thanks so much, doc!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I am not doc, but I have a thought...

Ask your PCP to submit a referral to your insurance company for your WLS surgeon. You are under continued care (for 2 years, as I recall?) and may qualify to see him/her.

Good Luck!

I no longer need referrals with my insurance as it is that Choice crap through Aetna (sorry, I had such good luck with Optimum Choice and was very upset that option was taken from us this year),so would having my PCP submit something do any good?

If he's a trained GI surgeon, it shouldn't be much of a problem, but yes, your WLS surgeon would be better. Give what judijo says a try first.
Hope it all turns out fine.

It could not hurt to try. I didn't think a general surgeon would have a problem, but I wanted to see what Doc said.

PS. Make sure the sonographer knows you had WLS. He/she may see things differently with the new plumbing, and of course, you want a proper reading.

Oh, yes, make sure you tell ALL the medical personnel you had WLS, not just drs and PAs and NPs, but ALL the med tech, pharmacists etc etc, everyone who has a license and has something to do in relation to your health. And in saying drs, I mean ALL drs even if they don't seem to have anything to do with WLS, eye, throat, dentists, whatever.

Gotcha! Thanks for the input!
Had the ultrasound this morning and told the tech all about my surgery. Now I just have to wait till mid-week next week for results, while I continue the attractive burping.
I think I will give the insurance a call to see if continued care is an option. I would feel so much better with my surgeon doing it!
