Default What's a stricture?

I keep reading forums on stricture but am not sure what that is exactly. Would someone mind thoroughly explaining that to me? Is it something to be concerned about? Be prepared for future questions. I'm looking into getting the Gastric-bypass in the next couple of months and am scared to death. I of course have the excitement of having my life-long dream of being the person I've always wanted to be. This is due to being over-weight my entire life. However, there are a lot of risks that worry me as to what will happen if I do go through this. I'm 23 years old and don't have any medical problems yet...but will if I don't do this. Will I be okay as long as I follow what my doctor tells me to do and what foods to eat, etc? I worry because I've read some forums where people have died years down the road (even people my age), due to complications from the surgery? Any information would be wonderful. I really need some encouragement and some help to put my mind at a bit of ease. Thank you!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joinng us.
Do a lot of search and research, there is no such thing as knowing too much, and knowledge is power, as you are the only person who can decide for yourself.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Here's the link to a thread where strictures are discussed and explained.

Doc answered the question, but I wanted to say welcome! We chatted in the chat room Saturday! I am glad you figured out how to navigate the forums. There are a great group of guys and gals here and you won't find a friendlier group anywhere.
