Height: | Okay, so this is slightly embarrassing to ask, but since I am sure it had crossed all of your minds at least once I will risk embarrassment. How soon after surgery were you able to resume full intimacy with your partner? This is not an issue that will prevent me in any way from having the surgery, I would just like to know so that I can mentally prepare...lol. I know that with C-sections they want you to wait for about 4 weeks, I am hoping that it isn't any longer than that since as long as my hubby is in the same state as me it is hard for me to not attack him at times. What can I say? He is a major cutie to me. The other embarrassing question is did the extra skin get in the way of your intimacy later? or was the weight loss so much more of a turn on that it wasn't an issue. Again, not key issues, just late night wonderings. Thanks. Janae |

| Cub Reporter | My surgeon states: "You may resume sexual activity when you feel physically and emotionally stable. Women need to use a mechanical form of birth control, as fertility may be increased by weight loss and oral contraceptive may not be fully absorbed." Maybe....2 weeks !!!

Height: | I have the IUD in, and was wondering if anybody knew if this surgery or weightloss would change the effectiveness of my birth control. It doesn't make sense to me that it would since it isn't a pill form, but just thought I would put it out there. Janae |

| Super Moderator | I don't think WLS will change the effectivity of IUD. If anything, your body fat loss, but that doesn't affect your female reproductive organs in size or shape, except for the change in mass that surrounds them. If you feel unsure, ask your gyn/ob, or set up an appointment after you've lost your weight some, say, 50-60 lb, and see if the IUD is still intact.

Height: | thanks doc, my daughter was an iud pregnancy, so I am a little wary when they tell me fertility may increase. I feel like i am done with having kids and don't want anything to jeopardize my weight loss efforts. Janae |

| Super Moderator | Most likely not until your weight has stabilized. You have reached goal, and are able to keep it. While you are losing your fat, your hormones are going to be haywire, and it's going to take some time after your weight settles, for your hormone levels to settle as well. Asking your surgeon and your gyn/ob is best, as these issues often differ with each person, so what time period you get, is the most common time frame, and may not apply to you.
