| Question about stomach pain
My surgery was back in May and I have not really had any problems since. I am scheduled to see my doctor tomorrow because I ended up going to the ER Friday night with horrible stomach pain that had just gotten worse all day long. It's right under my sternum and radiates to the right and around my back. They didn't do any x-rays or a CT. The only thing they did was lab work and told me that I probably have an ulcer and to take Protonoix, but until I get that filled I can take Prilosec and should feel better within 3 days. Today was the third day I took the Prilosec and it's not any better so I highly doubt this is an ulcer. I can tolerate the pain when sitting or lying, but when I get up, within a matter of 15 minutes, I am hurting so bad I have to sit down. It's like an achy feeling that just hurts something terrible. Has anyone experienced something like this at all?

Sounds like your gallbladder to me--if you still have it. That is exactly what mine felt like!

Kidney stones? I know they are in the back but maybe radiating pain? Still could be an ulcer- worth having that looked at! Hope you feel better!!

Well honey, I have been recently diagnosed with a pretty bad ulcer. I would have thought also it was your Gall bladder. Its sympomatic of it. My pain is to the left not the right but that dont mean anything. I also felt relief if I sit down or lay down. You need to contact your surgeon ASAP. Take the meds like they asked you to and try to stay off of any type of fiber if your taking any or eating any until your surgeon can see you. I know fiber is great to eat but if you do have a ulcer it will make you so very sick. Im on a very low if any fiber right now trying to get mine to heal up. My side would hurt me and into my back. I thought kidney stones to but it wasnt. Dont be like me and let it go on until they hospitalize you. If you have taken any type of asprin product or Motrin or Ibuprofin stop immedialty. Stay away from choclate for now to if you have had any.
Please call your surgeon first thing and let them know what type of pain your having so they can check you out.

Ps if you have taken any asprin products let them know immediatly. Dont be ashamed to tell them. A CT scan MRI or Xrays didnt show mine they had to do a EGD which is taking a light down your thoat to see it. It dont hurt and your not aware during this procedure. So please call at first light to tell them.

Sounds like a stone--kidney since you don't have a gall bladder-- or blockage. Ulcer is probable too, but the meds should give you some relief.
Since you're seeing your dr Monday, I hope it gets resolved with one visit.

Thank you for your responses. I can't wait to get to feeling better. I'm not taking any aspirin or NSAIDS. I was taking in extra fiber; however, will stop that today and will just continue to up my water. I was really in denial about it being an ulcer, but it definitely sounds possible. Thank you again! I'll update as soon as we find out what is going on.
