I know what you mean! I have lost 80 pounds and still think I weigh more when it comes to new clothes, squeezing through smaller spots, sitting in certain chairs, etc. I guess its just that we have tried to lose weight so many times and have failed that we are having a difficult time believing that we have succeeded. I am trying to have a more positive body image and its getting there slowly. I think we have to realize WE CAN DO THIS!

Its a HUGE mind game this rollercoaster ride we are all on. I am just about two years out and there are still days I think of myself as the old heavy me. I am now wearing a size 6 and I still dont see it or feel it everyday.

It took a long time to accept our fat persona, and we had that for how long? Years? You had your surgery just a few months ago, and you're still trying to break out of the old cocoon and spread your wings in the sun. It'll take quite a while to even accept that you are small, because you've trained yourself otherwise over that whole period of time. In due time, your mind will believe what your eyes are now rejecting, that you are indeed melting away. But it'll take a while to get there.
You're normal. We all go through this to some degree. You deny the image others tell you they see because you look in the mirror and your eyes deceive your mind, which resists the evidence piling up all around you in smaller sizes, weight, and healthy indicators.
Just accept that you're rejecting it now and that sometime later you'll convince yourself otherwise. It's a mind game!!

What you are thinking is quite normal. This is why I say it's as much, even more, a mind game than a physical game.
Check out the conversation I had with CraigT about this a couple or year ago. How long before I....
Also, something I posted way back when. Image of Self The Tricks Our Brain Play On Us
Hope this helps.

well, for myself, i NEVER saw myself in adult life or even in childhood as thin or anywhere near of that of a thin person... it makes me LAUGH when people say you can "stop now, you look good the way you are"
Yes we feel good, but the body image is so.... distorted cause of the years of living in the fat body we carried..at least for myself, i know that's the truth... does it scare me??? heck ya~~
i don't want to look anorexic or anything & i've told my close friends to not to let me get that far out, but since they saw me at my very heaviest at 304#, weighing 175 is a great job & they expect me to stop now... i'm not ready, & hope my body is not either?????
sorry for the rambling...
hope i made some sense in this post...
LOL,
