I noticed alot of you eat turkey chili. I bought some Hormel Turkey Chili and noticed 6 grams of sugar and sugar was listed in the ingredients near the beginning. Question, will iy make you dump or should you make homemade which I know would taste better. Thanks!!

Canned is convenient, but homemade is usually better tasting. If you make a big crock pot of homemade and freeze individual portions of it, homemade is also convenient. <yummmmmm>

I don't do canned chili, even before surgery. I'm from Texas and we eat REAL chili.  LOL

| hi - i don't eat canned chili - it is really easy to make. i do a large batch we will get two dinners out of it and then i have it for lunch most of the week.
i make mine with ground round and then rinse it off - ground round is lower in fat than other ground meats and is tasty.
i will take 2 pounds ground round, 2 cans of black beans rinsed, 1 can of kidney beans; a large can of crushed tomatoes (29oz ?); 14oz can of petite chopped tomatoes; first saute a medium size onion in olive oil and 1 tsp chopped garlic; while the meat is browning in the skillet i will put the tomatoes and beans in a soup pot, add two packages of chili seasoning and heat to a boil - then add the cooked ground meat - WARNING this is very thick hearty chili and you will want to have a lid to your soup pot while you are cooking because it has a tendency to make big pops (know what i mean, when it is heating and a heat bubble pops and splashes) stir a lot.

Thanks for the info and the recipe. I am headed to the store to make a batch!! CinnyBun, my aunt lives in Elpaso, Texas and she told me that they don't eat canned chili, it was forbidden in Texas!! LOL

I don't do canned chili but I do chili from Wendy's all the time!! Just over 200 calories for a small and a small is super filling...and its easy!!

i have never had canned chili. 6g of sugar shouldnt make you dump but it aint worth the risk LOL. as for wendy's chili, i use to love it...until someone who worked there told me how it was made. now, i no longer love it!
if you make it at home you can control/modify ingredients to your likes and dislikes. homemade everything is better!
let us know how your batch comes out.
