What exactly did your physical consist of? I mean, was it a quick 5 minute evaluation (checking BP, ears, breathing) or was it a full blown physical including a pap/rectal exam? I am so nervous about this. Thanks.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

It depends on your age and health history. It was that time of the year for a pap so my pcp did it. In addition she did a breast exam, checked my thyroid (but it is always the same). No rectal exam as I had no problems in the past (family etc) and too young. Normal blood pressure and full blood work. After 15 viles I quit counting. Some have to do a stress test, but my doctor did not order it. Oh she did order a chest x-ray and I had to have a EKG.

I havent had the pre admission testing yet, but maybe this will help untill others come in. I think thaty some Drs have you a do stress test maybe an a scan or 2.Females usually have to have a pap dated no more than 1 year ago. I think the biggest thing is the blood work. Hang in there!

Well, I didn't have a pap smear done but the rest was pretty thorough. They want to make sure your body can handle the stresses associated with surgery. Hence the cardiac stress test and the sleep study. If you haven't had a physical in awhile (and so many of us used to put off meeting with the doc as long as possible!) you may well find that you're in pretty decent shape for your size. I was pushing 300 when I had the cardiac test on a treadmill, and I was able to last until they got tired and turned it off. (Felt pretty good about that once my vitals returned to normal!! )

As always, your mileage may vary. My wife had a couple of major surgeries the year before RNY surgery, so she didn't need a stress test. They figured that if she hadn't died then, she probably wouldn't now, and by golly, she didn't!!

Good luck!

Well, I've had all the pre-op tests done and have been approved for the surgery. I now have to do pre-admission which includes the blood work and a physical as well as a 2 hr. class. So the PAT physical . . . just a little thing?
