Default Does anyone have to wear an abdominal binder?

I know that every surgeon is different, but I was wondering if anyone else is having to wear one?

I have been told to wear it for 6 months. needless to say I have had to cut it down once already and at 40 bucks a pop I can't see me not having to buy at least 2 more. I was wondering if anyone else has used something other than the standard white wrap around velcro one.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

SORRY I didnt and dont have to wear an abdominal binder.
DO you mind me asking why you have to wear it?
Is this to prevent hernia's? I am sorry I am not
up on this need. I imagine this also is something
with open surgery verses the lapriscopic.

((HUG)), Perhaps if you did find someone that
had to wear one you can borrow the ones they
outgrew and save that kind of money!
GOOD LUCK

Partly the hernia thing and partly to keep my "flesh" as it were, in place. I will say that it does help with support not only for my tummy, but for my back as well.

AWESOME and thanks for the information!
I am just not familar with that. I do have friends
who had open surgeries but they wound up with
hernia's so this might have been a savior to them
if used!

Wink Wow....

That's interesting....
Do you like it??

I didn't have to wear one...I had Lap RNY....but, I have two friends that had to wear them after their C-Sections....Both liked them...felt supported...and it made them more comfortable with the 'idea of not ripping out their staples/stitches.

How do you feel about it.....
You might PM Hanadi (ChuppyGirl) and ask her....she had OPEN RNY too!

Hope you are feeling good....

I have the standard one that wraps around with velcro. It was the only thing that allowed me to sit up for more than 10 minutes at a time when I first got home. It was a life saver when I started back driving and back to work. I keep it on all day and only take it off at night before bed.

I tryed using a binder left over from my husband surgery years ago but found it hurt too much after just a few minutes. I didn't try it again.

I do find now after 70 or so pounds that wearing under supports help alot. I hate using the word "Girdle" sounds soooo. grandma-ish!!!!!
They do help though, especially with my dress clothes, smooths things out a little...hehehe.

Now I need to start working on my tummy muscles, I meet with my surgeon this Wed., will ask how long I have to wait.

Good luck to you...ROBBIN
