Default Liquid Tylenol question

I've trashed my Ibuprophen and switched to xtra-strength Tylenol capsules for the month before my surgery, per doc's instructions...and have bought liquid Tylenol (for adults) for the first few months after surgery. (Arthritis! Ouch!)

Last night I tried a dose of the liquid to see just how bad it would taste...pretty good actually. BUT...it is made with corn syrup, the second item on the ingredients list. And the dose is two tablespoons. Will that cause a dumping reaction?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

sueZ i remember having the very same question post-op and received a real mix of replies on this subject. because of my major fear of even possibly dumping i stayed away from the liquid and take the tylenol e-x tabs and haven't had any problems with them.

It may or may not, depends on your pouch, really.

it depends. what causes dumping in each of us is different. also the dosage might be off as well. remember that dosage is for a person with a NORMAL system....
i used a tylenol liquid that was red. i dont remember which one it was. rapid burst or something like that. and i ended up sweating and having my heart run a race with me sitting still...i switched to the children's which also has cornsyrup, and it works fine. might be that the dosage is lower..dunno. i always have success with liquid medicines vs pills which seem to take FOREVER but have to watch the corn syrups etc.

by the way, did you see on the news that they are adjusting the max dosage of tylenol per day?

I dont know. I had to take it in liquid form myself for a while afterwards. It never made me dump. However I didnt feel well after taking it and never put it together that could have been it. Ask your Dr about that one ok? I have to back up a bit further come to think of it...... I was placed on liquid Loratab for a long time afterwards because of some complications. I took the liquid in the hopstial and he wrote my pain killer to be liquid when comming home. I wish that stuff had some corn syrup in it to be honest because the taste of that stuff was completly horrible.

Im sorry I cant help you more than this. Yeah ask your Dr about that. Or Doc will be on and reply to this soon im sure.

Sue if you have arthritis that you take the ibuprofen for and are having to make the switch to tylenol I understand complety. That is part of the reason they put me on the liquid loratab so long was because the tylenol didnt take care of it like the ibuprofen. Dont be scared to ask for somthing to help the arthritis if that becomes a problem. And please dont EVER take ibuprofen or asaprin again ever. If you ever wanna hear that story let me know...... put it this way I survived barley after using it.

I took liquid Tylenol 1 week post-op without noticing the corn syrup and dumped. I haven't had it since.

I was also on the liquid loratab for other problems and one of them was arthritis in my feet. I did take some of the liquid tylenol on good days and it was ok but I added a bit of water to it, it was strong for me..Now I added pineapple bromelain chewables to my daily vits. At first I was told to take it with food to help digest your proteins and I thought that was great but then I was reading and found that if you take it on an empty tummy it is supposed to help with swelling due to arthritis and well I will say that I do see improvements in my feet and when I feel a flare up I double my dose and knock wood so far it does help.
