Hey Vic, welcome to the board. I am sure that I will be in your boat sooner than I want to be. I am about 7 months out I think, and I am starting to notice myself being able to eat more and it scares me. I am trying to get an appointment made with a counselor to help me figure out better healthier ways to deal with stress and to change my mind's behavior pattern. I know there are some amazing people on here that will be so happy to help you out. I so wish that Craig was able to be on here more often to help guide ya through, but if ya ever get the chance to talk to him, he is an amazing resource. I look forward to getting to know you better and hope you stick around.

thanks for the response, I asked my doctor why I was able to digest more food and he told me it was due to the way I chew my food. I chew my food like crazy and it allows me to eat more. I am scheduled to see my doctor next week and I am going to get back on track. I will let you know the outcome of my appt. thanks again for all the support and I look forward to our future conversations.

Hey Vic. Every day, almost I want to eat. I'm a chef and work with food. It would be very easy for me to graze all day long. I try & keep in mind how I used to feel and how I feel now. I have my moments. I'm not perfect but I sure don't want to ever go back to where I was.

My doctor told me I never have to diet again but I didnt have this operation to cop out of my responsibility to myself. I am sure glad I can post my feelings with people who understand what I am going through. Once again, thank you for all the responses.

I would advise all of you never to take any medication, especially weight control medication and psychotic medication, whether OTC or prescribed, without first consulting your surgeon or your PCP or a specialist who also is aware that you had the surgery, understands about your surgery, and is aware of the effects of the change in your system and absorption.
The medication on market are tested on people who have normal stomachs and a normal absorbtive/digestive system, and not on people who have had WLS.
There is no telling what can happen when one has a short-cutted system as in gastric bypass surgery.

Two of the reasons post ops need to discuss which medication they can and can not take is with their drs are 1) scarlines anywhere is a weakenss in the tissue which makes it more susceptible to harmful effects of various things including medication, and 2) your system to absorb food and chemicals that come through your digestive system has been changed, so how/where/when medication is absorbed may not be the same as those who have their stomachs and digestive systems intact.
If for no other purpose than to get info on medication that you can take, and also info on symptoms that you need to be aware that are indicative of your needing medical attention, I would suggest that you attend support meetings. It isn't all about getting chummy chummy with your fellow WLSers, for the medical staff, it is a great opportunity to dispense info on what you need for your post op life.

That is good thinking Doc. I know that my PCP just put me back on prozac, and I have been taking it for a few weeks now, but I know that there will probably need to be some adjustment on the levels here and there in the process due to absorption and such. I did make sure that my PCP knows of course about the surgery since that was one of the reasons we discussed my going back on this medication. I think it is great that you have our back and remind us of things that we might not consider sometimes. You are such a good friend... I love ya lady.
