| HELLO GIRLS, AND GUYS!, I guess this question isn't so stupid, but I am going to ask it. I am now only 24 pounds away from getting to my textbook ideal weight. Yes, the weight is coming off slower now, but still coming off every couple of days. I never, honestly, expected to be at this point so soon after surgery, so I never figured I would not have to post this question this soon. WHAT DO I DO WHEN I GET THERE TO MAINTAIN MY WEIGHT. Honestly, I can't imagine myself there, but I think before I know it, I will be. YIKES. I AM KINDA SCARED ABOUT IT FOR WHAT REASON I DON'T KNOW. I am assuming that I would have to eat more carbs. or something on that order. I'm not sure. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it now, but it seems to be creeing up on me REEEEEEEEEELLY FAST. Any suggestions? mike |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HEY MIKE! I know for me when i got the the goal weight set by the surgeon and my regular PCP ...not sure why but my body did stop looseing there. I was worrried too for a women i did loose quickly but boy my weight did stop for me around the weight that was ideal. I personally wanted 10 more which i doubt i will get. YOU will find over the next months you will be able to eat more it just happens. I can eat more, over 1 year then i did in that first year so thats helping me level. I dont eat as little as i used to but I do eat normal. GOOD LUCK, does your surgeon offer you a matainance type plain? I imagine if yoru weight goes below the ideal weight they can advise you. FOR me as i was promised the weight did stop when my body was happy with were i was. I do have other acquatinances who are struggling to not loose more battling the fear of eating more and gaining ...but it happens. AND there working on it.... GOOD LUCK

| Super Moderator | Here's an article I wrote on how to figure out what you need for the main page of this site. I've written there some of the points that are taken into consideration when we drs (I'm a diabetologist) give diet instructions. You also should ask your surgeon if they have any instructions for you. Also, to keep track of your actual intake, a lot of post ops use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or like sites. Hope this info helps.

| Well, I see my surgeon on December 6th. I imgine he will advise me then. HONESTLY, I would be content at the weight I am at now, but it still is coming off slower now. Every couple of days or so, I will lose a pound or two. I'm happy with that, but it's just getting a little scary for me now. I DON'T WANT TO START LOOKING SICKLY. LOL If you know what I mean. I guess the more I think about it though, maybe I will never get to that weight. WHO KNOWS. Thanks friendly again for your reply. mike |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Whoa, Mike! I think our surgery date was very close (mine was 8/7). Congratulations on being so close to goal. You're ahead of me on that. My surgeon said that most often the weight seems to "magically" stop when you get close to where you should be. I've read of some people not able to stop losing, though, but I can't imagine that ever being me
