Question Weight Loss Slowing

Ok my weight loss has really been slowing these past 3 weeks. I've gone from losing 4 to 6 pounds a week, down to 1 or 2. I'm sticking close to the 600 calories and still exercising. I'm wondering if I should work out longer or just chill and let my body do its thing. I don't go back to the Dr. for I think 3 more weeks so any advice would be helpful.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Do a search of the archives on the keyword "stall". You're two and a half months out, 66 pounds down - in short, you're right where folks usually hold up for awhile and let the body readjust. From what you've written, it sounds pretty normal to me.

Congrats on the wonderful weight loss.
Let your body recover from the rapid weight loss and rearrange the distribution. This is what it's trying to do right now. It will start losing again, once everything is in place for now--then stall again to redistribute again. You lose in humps and bumps, not in one fell swoop.

hello ih1920 ~ you are doing great in your weight loss! congratulations and the slow down is completely normal and necessary for your body to change in the speed that you lose those pounds. up until the last couple of months my average weight loss was 10-11 pounds per month.

You're likely to find that you are "losing inches" instead of pounds at these low wt loss times. It's all a process, and patience is needed. Try upping your protein and water intake. DAVE

I had my RNY in Feb. 2009! I started out at 376 at time of surgery. I was about 244 on December 17, 2009...as of this morning, I am 238. I try to workout and stuff like that. I really want to get to my goal weight! Is it still possible?

Yes it's possible. I attained my maximum wt loss at 24 months after my RNY surgery. But in acutality, I felt somewhat weak at 184 pounds. I've gained about 20 back and feel much more comfortable at this weight, and much stronger physically. Most people will "bottom out" at their lowest weight, and have some regain. UNLESS you are anal in your behavior about 4 oz meals, etc., it's likely you'll have a 15-20 wt gain, as your body settles out. I'm surprised you posted so long after my initial response. Remember to take your supplements, drink plenty of water and do some form of exercise daily if possible. If not, then try to do exercise 3-4 times a week for around 30 minutes. As you lose weight, you have less body mass (pounds you've lost) to move. Therefore, you have to increase the time or the weights you've used when you were heavier. Good luck on your journey. DAVE
