Has anyone out there lost hair? My NUT said that if you get the protein and vitamins you won't have hair loss. For some reason the thought of that scares me more than the surgery. I know I'm a little vain about my hair I guess.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

and how long has your nut been doing this?? I think we all lost hair at different degrees. I started losing at about 50 pounds and stopped for a while stalled started losing again and the hair started falling out again. I must admit at first it freaked me out. I did get use to it and it has grown back a lot of new hair now so I dont think anyone ever loses the for good. Some people lose very little but almost all lose some at some point. The weight loss is so much better than losing a little hair. It will be alright stop worrying so much. Good luck on your amazing journey.

I have always had very thick, healthy hair. I did everything I was told to do i.e. vitamins, protein, etc. and I still lost a ton of hair. It started coming out at 4 months and has just finally stopped after 8 months. My personal opinion: Your NUT is full of it.

I take everything I am supposed to and get more then enough protein per day and mine falls out everyday! Your NUT is not well educated in this field. We all lose it to some degree.

Your nut is nuts. Do some research & perhaps provide your nut with some case histories. We will all lose some hair regardless of whether or not we get in all nutrients.

thank you all and I will now be looking for the hair loss and won't freak out if I do lose some. I think she is trying not to scare us before the surgery but I would rather have the truth.

You know I even watched Big Medicine and seen a Dr whom had this surgery say she took in extra protein and etc and never lost her hair. Yep I belived it did my bioten and extra protein before surgery and to no avail I lost some hair. Its a good thought sure but your Nut truly dosent know what she is talking about. I dont know of anyone acutally on this board or in my life that needed a wig. Most cut it to a extent. i think part of it is not to show it as much but the most is because they want that new look for the new them.

We shed twice a year anyways......but we do shed more than normal when having WLS. It does start around the 50 pound loss mark and then will do it again later. No one noticed mine but me....... and my hairdresser only because she is my bestfriend and works on mine about every 3 weeks if I go like im supposed to............to which I have been bad about for about a year now!

i know i am chiming in late on this one but either your nut is a liar or she doesnt know what shes talking about LOL!

it will shed. there wont be anything you can do about it. i took that special time to chop it all off. i wore it short for the majority of my life post op. i am just now growing it out. look at it this way, small price to pay. its only temporary and no one will notice it but you...and your pipes!
