| blood sugar question
i know nothing about this. but i wasnt feeling "good" so i decided to dust off the meter and check my blood sugar. 221? i have not eaten in 2 1/2 hours. is that high? am i going to pass out or anything? i was looking at my book where i have random bloodsugar results and i have never gone over 124 or beliw 87.
i dont know what to do or what this means...

That's surprising really....lemme see isn't it like 90-120 is normal range but I think that's fasting blood sugar? or just regular..You might want to start checking it regularly for a week or so to see if there is a pattern of it peaking and then dropping?

yeah i definitely have to watch this. i remember the low 100's being normal. i dunno why it would be high 2 hours after eating...if thats even high i dunno. im going to lay down.
in case anyone asks, i ate a kids burger with half a bun at 6.30 and had nothing between that and testing at 9. im going to lay down.

yes it is 2 hours after eating. check it very often and see if it is going high then dropping too low. i was diabetic and i still check mine and i still have some high readings sometime. you would need a a1c test that tells you your over all average to know for sure if you are having problems. i know doc will have an answer for you.

one more thing. check and make sure that your strips you test with are not outdated. that can make a big difference.

Coming from someone who has diabetes 221 is high if blood sugar was taken 2hours after eating. The norm is between 80 and 120. Make sure your test strips match the code on the machine too. That would screw up the reading. All you can do for high blood sugar is move around.
