Question Is De-caff coffee considered one of our fluids?

I gave up coffee quite a long time ago, but have a little decaf once in awhile. Does that count towards any of our daily fluid? Do I need to drink twice the water to make up for it, or is decaf considered part of our allowance?
Dumb question...

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

No. Decaff still has some caffeine in them. Basically, one cup of cofffee=one extra glass of water. In other words, you have to add the same amount of water because caffeine is a diuretic.

Every surgeon and nut has different ideas. My surgeon, nut, and WLS manual all say I can drink de-caf coffee and it counts as fluids but regular coffee does not count as a fluid. Gosh some of this info is confusing. Go figure.

Even surgeons and nuts sometimes don't know decaf doesn't mean NO caffeine, just reduced caffeine. The nut may not know that WLS patients need to avoid caffeine if they can because of the diuretic issue, and think you need to avoid it only for its stiimulant issue which can irritate your pouch surface, so a small amount is fine. If you drink lots of decaf coffee, then you are going to end up getting in a fair amount of caffeine as a total.
And I'm willing to bet, if there's a NON-caf coffee like beverage, then, that will have something in it that gives the kind of kick caffeine gives, which proably will also have a diuretic effect, because whoever is looking for non-caff sure isn't looking for a non-diuretic as well.

A cup of coffee--even the real thing--a day or once in a while is actually okay if you can add in the extra fluid, and keep it to just that--one a day, or once in a very long while.
