Default Protein

I went for my 2nd monitored diet with the WL Center dietician yesterday. She told me once I have surgery the most important thing will be my protein intake. I found this list online... Is this pretty accurate and are there other things any of ya'll eat for your protein intake?
  1. Chicken Breast – 3.5 oz., 30 grams of protein (Go with the 99% fat-free boneless, skinless variety for the leanest choice.)
  2. Turkey – About 7 grams of protein per ounce
  3. Tuna – 6 oz. can, 40 grams of protein
  4. Salmon – 3.5 oz., 27 grams of protein
  5. Eggs – 1 large, 7 grams of protein
  6. Milk – 1 cup, 8 grams of protein (Go with 1% or skim)
  7. Cottage Cheese – 1/2 cup, 15 grams of protein
  8. Almonds, Peanuts, Cashews – 1/4 cup, 8grams, 9 grams, 5 grams of protein
  9. Peanut Butter – 2 Tablespoons, 8 grams of protein
  10. Yogurt – 8-12 grams of protein per cup

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yep. That is in food. You will have to subsitute the drinks or bars along with this at first until you can get enough in. Some might tell you oh but somthing on this list has carbs. You need atleast 90 per day to function so keep that in mind ok?

I do try to get in enough protein though my food without having to drink somthing now to add it. But remember im a couple years out so its gonna be a while before you even hit that point.

Cheese has alot of good protein in it to. I seen where cottage cheese is listed but any type cheese really has it in it. The cheese sticks are great after this surgery. It will give you a boost and it good for you.

Your list looks good. Cocoa Wheats are high in protein as is Quinoa. If you like fresh veggies (steamed to almost much at first) broccoli is good. Nuts, especially almonds.

Re fried beans saved me a few times when nothing else tasted good. I would put some salsa and ff cheese in them and they were so good. Good protein also.

Here is what is on my list (I know all lists are a little different, but there might be some on mine to get you thinking in the right direction):
  • Cottage cheese (low fat or nonfat)
  • Eggs, egg whites, or egg substitute
  • Cheese (with less than 5g of fat per serving)
  • Turkey Bacon or Canadian bacon
  • Chicken or turkey (breast only)
  • Ground chicken or turkey (breast meat only)
  • Beef or Pork (Lean-cut, NO ground beef)
  • Fish (any variety, canned tuna or salmon packed in water)
  • Lunch meat (deli style with less than 5g of fat per serving)
  • Protein drinks or bars (5g of sugar or less, low fat, 15g or protein or more)
  • Tofu
Hope that helps!

Your list is good, but I could never eat chicken breasts so I go for the skin less thighs and put them in the crock pot they are so much moister and they go down easier. I used lots of salsa and pico de gallo at first on everything, still use it, but I find I still use it alot. You tastes change from day to day. Good luck.
