Question Can't eat the skin on fruits

My nutritionist just told me that I shouldn't eat the skin on any fruits. Bummer. Not even grapes. I have been craving fruit lately. Has any else's nutritionist said this?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I was told not to eat grapes because the grape could become stuck in the stoma. My nut never addressed whether WLS patients should eat skins.

I was told that any fruit that can be peeled like apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums even, anything really, even some grapes with the tough skin but not the thin skinned ones. I was also told not to eat the membranes of oranges and to eat them like you would a grapefruit. Same for veggies too. Peel as many as you can and no stalks of broccoli or other fibrous veggies.

The reason I was given is that the peels are really hard to digest now and can cause a blockage and get stuck. I was also told that if you cannot chew something to the consistency of apple sauce, DON'T swallow it because it could get stuck. So if you can manage to get a peel to that consistency, then go for it. I was told, however, that after the first year you can try to add back some peels if you must.

I never knew that either. I haven't had any problems with fruit but I find it difficult to digest vegetables. I guess that might get better over time

I knew you could not eat thick skins, but they told me I could eat grapes, just be sure to chew the skins well. I still have a problem with some meats, spagetti, rice. But I have no problem at all with peanuts, pistaachios. You would think I would have more of a problem with the nuts than the pastas. The dr told me,(rice, pastas ) they assorb so much fluid and expand so much that it gives you the knot feelingin your chest.

The skins have a lot of fiber in them, so they can block your pouch.

Mine just said that skins could give you a stomach ache, but I haven't had a single issue with fruit or veggie skins. I eat them all Lots of vitamins in there!
