Default And now for a really stupid question!

Hi everyone!
Do you guys have a fairly accurate idea of how much your pouch holds? I seem to be having trouble determining mine. I guess this is just another good reason to stop sipping fluids 1/2 hour before eating.
I had to today after eating some chicken. I don't think I ate very much of it, perhaps 2 oz, but had to "return" it right afterwards. This is the first time this has happened for me.

Also, do you eat on a regular schedule?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

BEING i totally stunk at doing that
the best method was for me was eating out
of my toddler/baby food bowls.
THAT was my portion...i ate
and stopped when i was finsihed
never takeing more.
BEING i ate to fast this method
helped me alot to control the much
needed portions.
GUESS what, i went back to doing that
recently to make sure and see what
im truly eating again!

as far as when i ate...yes i am scheduled.
I do 3 meals 2 snacks.
I dont go that long from when i wake to eat.
and keep going. I had to but that was proly
cause i developed an ulcer post op...and when
my pouch was empty it never felt right. DIDNT
know......!

SO its a great method for me.

I had to learn what full felt like and was.
AS this was my birth defect pre op
i never got full!!!! AND now its been fixed

Lisa,
Thanks for sharing your personal experiences.

I'm going to try to establish some kind of pattern. I believe this will be easier when I get back to work (on the 16th). Right now, I'm kind of all over the place with my schedule.

Also, I got some small bowls to use. They hold about 4 oz. That should help.

Default hello howie

Howie,
That is not a stupid question at all dude. I was confused in the beginning as well what actually full meant. lol Then you get to realize, it is just like before you had the surgery. FULL IS FULL. Just remember, if you are full, DON'T eat anymore. I have already had food in my mouth, and felt full, so I went to the garbage and spit it out. I had to do that several times. I am finding it alot easier now to know exactly when I am full. Knowing also, how much I can eat. In the beginning, it was like I had no clue. Just because you tossed your cookies, wasn't probably because you ate too much, it was probably because it didn't agree with you in that certain instance. DON'T WORRY!
As far as the eating schedule, I think it is very important to at least try and keep an eating schedule. I know that sometimes it is just not possible depending on the day, but I do. I am sure alot of the other members here would agree. HANG IN THERE BUDDY. YOU ARE DOING FINE.

I think I was numb for weeks. I never felt full or empty. I ate by the clock and by the scale. Small dishes are great. You'll start to develop an instinct for how much to eat.

Also be sure the chew your food to oblivion. For one, it settles easier in your pouch. Also, it slows down your eating. Most of my "refunds" are when I eat too fast or take too big of a bite.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. I think the problem I had with the chicken may have been either too big of bites (I was watching TV at the time), or perhaps too rich...it was one of those cheesey chicken things from Ruby Tuesday's.

I threw up ALL THE TIME for awhile. I could really only eat yogurt, cottage cheese, and string cheese. I still eat WAY TOO FAST (something I'm working on)... just don't get discouraged.

Eating too fast has always been a problem for me as well.
It's kind of funny, my brother pointed this out to me initially.
He told me he had the same problem and had to train himself to eat slower due to the fact that he has a lot of business dinners and would be done way before anyone else,
I figure if he can do it, so can I!
