Default Have really BAD sharp pain in left side right above hip bone

I just got out of the hospital yesterday and everything was fine, sore but not really too bad. This afternoon I was sitting in the recliner and notice that I had gas bubling up in my throat and then had some gas, well you know from the other end. Then all of a sudden I got this sharp pain in my left side right above my hip bone. I almost feels like someone is jabing me with a knife. It is not consistent but it hurts. So I immediately started walking and it felt a little better. I burped some when I started walking but I am tired because I haven't taken a knap today. I am now sitting in the recliner again leaning back and still have the pain not as bad and it comes and goes, WHAT SHOULD I DO? I am not even sure of exaclty what is located there in my body. Please let me know if any of you have had this before???

Jackie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Don't worry - I have the same thing and I'm 4 weeks post op. It comes and goes but it's all muscular. If you're really worried call your doctor but a lot of us have gotten this.

Could be gas. it will take a few days to get all the gas out of you. Walk as much as you can and it should help getting rid of it.

Sounds like gas to me. . and it is no fun. Especially since it comes and goes.
Hope you feel better. Moving around is the best thing to get rid of it.

I had the EXACT feeling and went right to my surgeon. Sent for a CT scan and nothing. I discovered that the pain was from having the SF Jello puddings in the cup. My body CAN NOT do sugar alcohols. Haven't had them since and am feeling better. Had the surgery on 2/5. Was supposed to be routine laproscopic but my surgeoun went in and found that my stomach was "cemented" to my posterior wall with scar tissue. My liver and pancreas were also "cemented" to my stomach with the scar tissue. It's been very slow going and have been having a hard time mentally about it and am trying to take it one day at a time. Good luck and keep us updated.

I have had that exact same pain since I had surgery. It is the one spot that hurts the most and the drugs dont touch it. The only thing that helps me is to press really hard on that spot. For some reason that makes it let up. The worst for me is getting up from a chair it always hurts. The surgon told me that he did most of the work on my left side. He also said that he put some mesh in my left side. Not sure what for but I do know it hurts.

If it's really bad, try a heat pad and see how it goes.

FEELING much better today!! I took the advice that you all gave and I walked more and put a heating pad on my side. I also started taking Gas-X thin strips to help relieve the gas. But I think walking helped more than anything. Yesterday I thought I was going to die!! Today I feel like a new person

THANKS so much for all of your advice!!!!!!!!!

I had this exact pain and pushing on it too also helped, my surgeon s office explained it is were alot of work is done, especially if you had your gallbladder removed like I did. I know there is also a connection to that area and the initial gas pains. Oh, and by the way that pain only lasted a week or so, and now that I am 9 weeks out it doesnt hurt.
