Default How long is the honeymoon period?

I see you all refer to the honeymoon period; how long is that?

At what point does your weight loss slow down? During the slow down period how much are you still loosing per week?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

MY surgeon says the honeymoon for looseing is 12 to 18 months. BUT we can loose past there just got to work at it really hard!

I found first 6 months weight flew off.
Tapered down the next 6
and then came to a stand still
since makeing the surgeons goal for me....
but i lost very rapidily!
they say each 6 months it slows down
but we all loose at different rates

SEEMS my body new just when to stop
and what weight it liked ...and im okay
at this size too

Default Hello jbarfield

I never really had a honeymoon period. LOL I had surgery on August 1st, and currently am at my ideal weight for my height in just 5 months. Men do lose faster than women though, or so I have been told. Lisa is right though. That is what my surgeon told me as well. He didn't know at the time, I was going to lose so fast either. Neither did I, but I hoped and prayed I would. lol GOOD QUESTION THOUGH.

Hi there... This is the window of opportunity to loose the most amount of weight.

The 6 to 18 months after surgery is affectionately known by patients as "the honeymoon period." Weight falls off without much effort. Portion size is greatly restricted by the surgically decreased gastric volume. Patients call the frequent absence of hunger a true miracle; changes in ghrelin metabolism may be the cause of loss of hunger in the early postoperative period. Later, the stomach stretches enough to allow one to eat more than necessary and still be comfortable. At this time, developing a new lifestyle is critical. "They did surgery on the stomach but not the brain." Emotion-driven eating habits return as hunger returns and the stomach stretches.
