Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I came home yesterday but went straight to bed..... Well, I am glad this experience is behind me......to put it lightly! I just have one question.....during my stay they keep asking me if I passed gas, peed or had a bowel movement. Thankfully I had peed and had passed gas (trust me when I say that I could of parted the ladies hair from across the room....BUT what I didn't /don't know....yesterday I started to have BM's.....then they got more forcefull and haven't slowed down. I have had 10 explosive bowel movements since yesterday....my questions are: Is this nornmal? I had a fudgecicle (sugarfree) yesterday aso I was wondering if it was the dumping syndrome....or perhaps both. Any help would be appreciated. will write more later....back to bed for me... Love yas... Valerie***

| Super Moderator | Valerie, welcome back!! Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench!! Rest as much as you can at this time! I don't think your BM had anything to to with the fudgcile, and neither is it dumping. Part of the movements would be due to the fact that your intestines are trying to move back into their own space. I know this is going to sound gross, but the surgeon would have moved around your intestines when creating the bypass. They are careful not to get the intestines twisted, but still, with the surgery, parts of the intestines will be displaced. Once the anesthesia wears off, and you wake up, so will your innards. Then the displaced intestines will start moving to fit in comfortably.Once it's settled, I think your BM will ease down. (((((((HUGS))))))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HI VALIERIE WELCOME HOME! do check out your greeting thread in the greeting card forum... http://www.renewedreflections.com/fo...ry-monday.html I did not have a bowl movement at all while in hospitol but i wasnt allowed my first sips of deluted applejuice till friday late afternoon after my leak test was done. SO i figured nothing in me to come out and i had a bowl cleansing drink the night before surgery so i was pretty empty. IN the hospitol all my pee was measured everytime i went...which was TOOO frequent from all the IV liquids and when i first woke i had a cather in. As for me my bowls were explosive when i first got home but never concerned. I was only on stage 1 clear liquids and figured its normal that if my intake was all liquid that it was going to come out in the same form. I did have to pass gas each time in the potty in fear of a little mishap. WAS very normal for me sorry to be gross just trying to help ya! I was not allowed the fudgcicle type ice pop till stage 2 foods when i add the dairy in be careful just the fruity surgar free pops are stage 1, unless your doctor has you to that stage. MANY become lactose intolerant post op and they watch for this. I would stay off the fudgie till next stage of foods. I was only on the clear for 2 weeks when home then went to stage 2 liquids for another week. also just like in the hospitol continue to do short walks to help break up that gas!!! it helps! I wasnt able to walk far but i walked few times a day I would go 2 houses past mine and turn around! GOOD LUCK ask away and feel free to contact me with anything! hugs

| WELCOME HOME! Well, as far as me, I did have a BM in the hospital, but I practically had to give myself a hernia to get it movin. They told me that I could not leave unless I did. My belly didn't feel too good while I was doing that, seeing that I had open incision, but I did not enjoy my 5 star hotel stay, and just wanted to get the H... out of there. Six days was more than I could bear. They listened to my belly daily though, for sounds. I would think, like everyone else, that is normal for some. Like Doc said, they literally rearrange your innards to do the surgery, and the anesthetic puts everything to sleep. It has to wake up, and when it does, it is sometimes with a vengence. I wish, sometimes, I could have done what you did. LOL Again, glad that you are home. Keep us posted, Valerie.mike |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | yes the first ones are the hardest. Juggling things! Greiving the food loss being most of us are put on a liquid diet, but each day sleeping gets easier, more energy comes in time...and things balance out. ANd the next thing you know your amazed at the scale moveing and that gets one really happy. I was bad and weighed myself every day from the first day some wait till surgeon visits. BUT once those numbers start rolling past your going to be so happy. JUST takes time. GLAd to hear your drking more then required. I would sip sip sip and the best think i liked post op was warm broth...seemed to feel the best on my healing insides. Once i was able to do dairy i did egg drop soup..just few sips but was good...and added a little why protein in. Feel well valerie! i imagine you will be seeing the surgone early next week??? do you have staples? drains??? i know for me i was amazed that i was being held closed with just tape on each lap mark. amazin! feel good

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | It took me awhile to have a bowel movement or to pass gas.. I was never so happy to pass gas as I was the first time after getting home. My stomach hurt so bad. But I did have liquid bowel movements the first few times. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi Valerie, Many congrats on your WLS, and wish you a very smooth and lovely journey. I remember when I was at your stage last year I had million questions about my new pouch and whet what to eat or drink for the 1st couple of weeks and can I workout? or..or.. Regarding going to the washroom well it was tough for the first few weeks since all what we can have is just pure liquids, I remember 1st time I passed number 2 was maybe 2 weeks post op and I was very proud of it hehehe (that reminded me of my daughter when I was potty training her! she didn't want to wash the potty afterwards lol) take it easy darling, everything will be alright just follow your surgeon instructions and you'll see the results very rewarding! Happy journey BTW I love your signature! Hanadi
