Default Low Body Temperature

I live in PA where the weather has been cold. Since my surgery in 11/2/06, I have been colder than normal. In January, I noticed that I was even colder yet. I started taking an iron pill and I thought it had improved. But as of today, I have had my co-workers mention to me that they thought something could be wrong since they are normally cold and my office is very warm to them. And I am sitting there with a heater right at my legs and wearing my sweater.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I take a thyroid pill for hypothyroid. But I can't imagine why I am extremely cold. When I am sitting by the heater at home and I have on pants/shirt and my wind breaker/coat, my family is wearing shorts.

I just had blood work done, so I hope it will uncover something I have to adjust. But it is scary, because I read on a website that if you have a low body temperature that that means you will have a slow metabolism. I am not sure if this is true or not. Any thoughts?

Love this website!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

So what is your body temperature, actually?
If your temp is within the normal range, don't worry.
You aren't the only one.
Here's a thread on the subject.
Why Am I Freezing All the Time?

Well doc gave you the link i was thinking
but i will add from my experience...
I was never cold all the time till now!

LAST summer my family hated me cause i never
wanted the central a/c on at all. I was finally
comfortable when the house was 95 degrees!
THIS was never me!
I have learned to bundle...
wear long johns under my clothes
and lots of layers!
all the best but this is yet another normal
thing for us when shedding the pounds
hugs

Default Insulation

Every time I lose weight I develop an intolerance to cold, or sometimes even normal temperatures! We have to realize that we've been carrying around LOTS of "personal insulation". You get used to whatever your body's situation is over time.

Well, except I used to sweat like mad all summer and be able to travel around in the winter w/out my coat as long as I wasn't OUTSIDE too long.

It's kind of a drastic change to lose 100 pounds of "warm wrapping"!!! Maybe there is an adjustment phase if you don't overdo it w/the heat (in which case there's be no opportunity/reason to adjust).

I've noticed other funky things too. Like that it hurts the bones in my butt when I sit on the floor, and my ribcage when I lay on a hard surface! Interesting ride for sure!

XOXO
