Does anyone know....can you stretch out your new pouch from drinking too big of swallows (gulps)?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

NO i dont think you can stretch but what you need to be careful of is your staple line inside is needing to heal and you dont want to rupture it and let it heal. THATS why important to sip sip sip.
I know for me i couldnt GULP early out. IT would hurt bad.

No, the pouch will not be that easy to stretch.
As Lisa says, it's more an issue of the staple lines breaking if you put too much pressure on it, so sip bit by bit instead.

That said, the pouch doesn't stretch because you stuff it, it stretches as part of the natural healing process. Our body recovers lost functions to a certain extent, whatever that lost function is, and the pouch does grow--call it stretch if you will--to accomodate at least 3-4oz food at a time as part of the recovery. Any smaller, and you are not going to be able to get in what you need in the long run. The surgeons that construct the pouch take this recovery into account when doing the surgery.

I have heard of people using sippy cups made for toddlers while in the healing stage so they are forced to sip rather then gulp. Just heard it dont know for real cuz I am still waiting

Valerie,
you know for the 1st month I had like 4 sippy cups one for the clear broth, one for the water, one for the clear juices, and one for my favorite peppermint tea! and I was basically sipping all the day! I don't think drinking would stretch the new pouch but with this new life style we have chosen for our selves we'd better change a lot of our old attitudes drinking big gulps or eating fast (big morsels) are one of them! through my 9 months journey I had to eat and chew slowly, even when I can drink between the meals I drink slowly and small sips ( even if I try to drink fast for the water loading technique I have to stop between one sip and the other because it hurts if I gulp one after the other!)
So hone welcome to the new world of feminism, day after day you'll notice that this new lil pouch of yours will introduce you to become a new classy lady!

Cheers,
Hanadi

Default Hey Cherish

I will be 6 months out on the 1st of Feb., and I still cannot gulp. NO WAY. I can take drinks, I call them, but not gulps. I can drink, like a cup of coffe alot faster than I used to, but GULPING it for me, if it were cool, would still out of the question. I agree with the girls on this one. I don't believe you can. DITTO WITH THE SIP SIP SIP FOR NOW.
