Exclamation Leg cramps

Has anyone had or heard of WLS people getting leg cramps? I'm not sure if I'm short on some min. or if I strained some muscles on Sun. cleaning but last night I got cramps in BOTH inner thighs at the same time, 3 times. I have had cramps before, pre-op, on the back of my calf or thigh but never inner thigh and never at the same time in both legs. I tell you it was a 10 in pain. They are both sore today. I was helpless as a baby when they hit.
I got my blood tested today...overdue, my fault for putting it off.
Seems like I remember someone talking about them a while back. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

When I was following Atkins they said to make sure you get enough potassium because a diet low in carbs and high in protein can cause leg cramps.

I used to take a mangesium/potassium supplement and that helped tremendously. Mine were always in the calves though. I never have had them in the inner thighs. You may have overdone things, or a combination of both.

Lisa probably could tell you more about this since she was more involved with the Atkins BB then I was.

Hmmmm....I'm not doing low carbs. I did have my blood checked today. It was supposed to be done a while back. Maybe I need to drink more, all though I don't think that there has been a change in that either.
I did have part of a banana after the 3rd episode. How fast do they work?
Thanks guys. I'll let you know what the blood work says.

I am sure kat docsanae can tell you
on that how soon it would help
you eating the banana but
were so different in how
we absorb and time frames
then the normal.

I think your blood work will tell alot
and im leaning more to the potassium if
you have had no change in your liquids
intake.
GOOD LUCK!
and i hope you get answers leg
cramps suck!

Dehydration or low potassium is probably the most frequent culprit, but it may be the total balance of salts-- sodium, chloride and potassium together. There are other probable causes such as too high or too low blood sugar, and hypo or hyper thyroidism, balance of hormones and stuff.
I know CraigT often had pretty bad cramps at one time that kept him awake for a couple of hours at night, but all the tests he had run--and I asked him point on point what he had done-- came up with nada...
Also, physical issues such as degenerative bone disease and narrow spinal canals which both put pressure on the nerves, or sclerotic arteries of the legs cause cramps, too.

If this continues, be sure you ask your surgeon.

K guys...got the results and surgons office says all the blood work looks wonderful. They said to make sure that I drink enough that it showed that I was off the tiniest bit there which I sort of had a feeling the last coupe of days.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Default Ugh! Kat

Yes, I as well, have had to deal with the leg cramps on more than one occasion. I did ask my dr. about it, and he said just what all the others here, have said. POTASSIUM I do, love bananas, but have lacked on getting one in me daily these last few weeks. Too many other good things I am trying these days. LOL GOOD STUFF, FOR THE RECORD. I know that dehydration, in my case, is not what it is. I have been getting them in the calves, and all over my feet. I know it sounds weird, but is true. I have been eating the nanner, daily now, and it sure has helped me. NO MORE TO SPEAK OF. Hang in there, kiddo. You won't get advice, if you don't post your questions, and I see you are doing a fine job with that.
