Default My butt hurts when I sit for too long?

I have been noticing the past month or so that my butt hurts after sitting in the car for awhile. My car has leatherette seats that were always comfortable before but now I feel like the seam of my pants is digging into my tailbone. I'm guessing I need to buy a cushion for my delicate rear end. I still have 30lbs to lose if not hopefully more. I don't think I'll be able to sit anymore.

Last night I sat here convinced that I had a tumor on the left side of my butt. I thought my bone seemed more pronouced on the left side. I didn't think my teenage son would want to be part of this so I have to wait until Wed. when my hubby comes home from work for him to evaluate it. I spoke to him today about it and he says I have to climb stairs to build muscle in my butt as a cushion.

Anyone else have "Bony Butt Syndrome"? And is it boney or bony?? There is nothing better than this website where I can talk about constipation and butt pain. Thank goodness I stumbled upon it.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yep WLS is a pain in the butt for sure...most all of us have a hurting tailbone , some get cushions made for that to sit on, I have one but I think I need a knew one , I got mine many years ago when i broke my tailbone....odd thing when I gained weight it didnt hurt but rarely now it hurts like heck...I think some call the cusion a donut hole if I recall right , I know CT has one and a link even I am sure he will share with ya..otherwise go to a medical supply place and you can buy one...So Butts up to us all hugs, Annie~

Yes I have been dealing with it for 6 months plus. In fact I just got back from the doctor yesterday. I have been referred out to pain management & physical therapy. I have tried just about everything (pain patches, donut cushin, etc.). My pain is in the very tip of my tailbone, where I lost most of my weight from. I hope your body adjusts and you do not have to go through what I am right now.

I love this site, you guys rock. The conversations alone are worth the read let alone all the awesome advise and endless information. If I hadn't found this I would still be staring into the fridge wondering what to eat.

It's "bony". And only everyone who's a bit farther along than you has dealt with this. Welcome to the "numb butt club"!!

This is one of the most common problems we have to deal with when we shed our protective padding. You may also find your shoe size or height shrinking as your feet lose their fat pads too. I was 5' 10" when I started, but no longer!!

Like Annie says, Peanut and I have found a tailbone cushion to be a great help. I get mine on eBay (Peanut stole my first one, so I had to get another!) Here is a link to a search that turned up quite a few. It'll go out of date with time, so just go to the Health & Beauty section and do a keyword search for "tailbone cushion".

tailbone cushion items - Get great deals on Medical, Mobility Disability, Health Care items on eBay.com!

Good luck!

Way to go Peanut!

Yep, tailbone pain is a pain in the butt. It did get better after awhile, but then I had the lower body lift with butt augmentation which shifted my "fat" around and now I'm dealing with it again. It's getting better, I'm no longer sitting on pillows 24x7 (but still a lot). Just call me Princess.

Default I have sores

My ass is drooping so much that I have developed sores right underneath both cheeks where my jeans rub against the lose skin. I am trying to put cortizone cream on them every day and soak in the tub...The only good thing about it is..if I still am having problems with them when I reach goal...then OHIP (Canadian Health Insurance) will pay for me to have a butt lift as it will be for medical reasons..so I say I think I can live with them for awhile...Nice to see my butt though..laughing...

Rainbows End,
Make sure you see your PCP about the sores. Most insurance companies will pay for plastics only if you have DOCUMENTED with a doctor that you have tried to treat the skin problems and they keep coming back. Also, take pictures.

you konw, this is an ancient thread, but I did a google search on sore butt when sitting, and was amazed to see a WLS site come up as a top result, as I have been having pain since my WLS (VSG) in December of 2011. So WHY do we have butt pain? Just weight shifting around? is there any physical therapy that can help?
