I have had my weight loss surgery about 6 years ago, but some how, I have swapped my overeating obsession with drinking. Has anyone else had this problem?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.

A lot of people have. As a matter of fact, addiction transfer is fairly common and the data published is anywhere from 5% to 30%. Unfortunately, from what I have seen, the number is closer to 30 than 5.
You need to dig into how you used food and your eating pre-op, what issues you had there, to get a better picture of why you have replaced food with alcohol.
If you think you have a problem, you know you have a problem.
That means you know what you have to do next.
Find meetings you can go to, find a therapist or a psychiatrist to give you professional help.
You are too precious to throw away the success you have achieved with your surgery this way.

(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

I just wanted to say hi and sorry. I personally have not had this issue but do know it is very common. Doc gave some good advice. Hang in there.

I have heard of this occurring alot in the time i was researching the surgeryand being a post op patient. I cant say it is for me. I have adhered
to my surgeons rule of no alcohol for the first 12 months. CLEARLY
these numbers that DOCSANAE shared are why he has this rule
besides the unecessary calories that are taken in thru drinking.
I can fully see how it happens for those (like me) that use
food for comfort and times how that substitute can occur.
SORRY if your going thru such. I took during my month 10 and 12
months some weight management councling with a pscy. nurse
who had bariatric surgery and i think it helped me alot. THIS
surgery doesnt always help some of our reasons that we ate.
THOSE things are there still i just cant eat as huge amounts of
foods as before so getting help in the form of therapy helped
me thru some rough times. I also was part of a pscyo therapy
group at my sugeons office.

I know i have also heard how the alchol is harsher on us post
op going directly to the liver. If this has occurred for you
I hope you can find help there are plenty options out there.
IF you neeed to talk Privately do feel free to Private message
me thru the board

HUGS
