Default So my hubby and I were talking

and we were wondering if after the surgery are you able to run long distances and hard core exercise. We ask this bec ause we know the pouch is small and you must drink lots to stay hydrated and wondered if with a lot of physical exertion does it hurt in the dehydration department?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hydrate yourself well before you start the exercise. and have water on hand as you exercise, and you should do fine.
When you run long distances, the runners don't fill their stomach up with water just before running, nor do they take gulps of water while running. If you did that, it would make anyone sick. So, no, GBS shouldn't prevent you from these exercises, so long as you condition yourself for whatever.

hmmm interesting...

Doc you know I found it painful when I jog and drink while jogging I had a pain from the right end to the left end and Gosh it feels like something is ripping my abdominal muscles. So what's the right way to drink water while working out, just small sips to prevent the mouth dehydration and after we finish the exercise drink as much as we want?

Thanks
Hanadi

Yes, while you are working out, keep it at small sips. Have you ever watched a marathon race on TV? If you have, you probably have noticed that the runners take only small sips at a time. Just enough to wet their mouth, it looks like, and then often pour the rest over themselves to cool their body down.
Many top class runners have their own recipe for energy drinks, which they have in distinctive bottles (with straws) which they snatch off the table at the water stations, take several sips at most, then cast off the bottle.
You can't drink much immediately after you've finished running if it's long distance, most times, you need to rest for a while before you are up to drinking or eating. I can vouch for that, because I have a friend who with her hubby runs marathons. I was in Hawai'i in Dec 2000 for the Honolulu marathon with some friends, because she and her husband were running in the race. (My friends and I did the 10km--just over 6 miles--walk that takes place along with the marathon) When they came back, it took them about 10-15 mins before they felt ready to put anything in their mouths.
