| saliva question
Ever since my surgery whenever I eat I seem to produce more saliva than before. Does this happen to others? Anyone know why?

Yes honey I did. And for some reason or another I would do this and get sick if I swallowed it. I would have to make sure I spit it out if not I would get what we call the foamies. Then throw it up. Is that what is happening to you? If so see if that helps and it might just stop the foamies from happening. If I was in a postion I couldnt spit it out in the bathroom I would make sure I had tissues close ( alot) to spit into them. Just plain salavia.

We need digestive enzymes to process food. We used to get most of them in the stomach, but we don't have stomachs anymore in the traditional sense. Saliva is the only one we have left. We didn't take advantage of it when we wolfed our food down, because you have to chew it into your food to mix it in for it to do any good.
Now we chew a whole lot more and more thoroughly than ever before. This mixes saliva into the food so it can digest more easily. I think our body is compensating for what it doesn't have by making more of what it does have.
Just my wild theory. $0.02

If it's the foamies, slow down and chew well, it should improve because it will be mixed up with the food.
If it's just that you have more saliva as you chew, that's how it's supposed to be. The better you chew, the better the salivary glands are stimulated and excrete more.
