| Newbie | I know that is a positive negative statement, but that is where I am not. 6 months post op, 1 lb from goal. I dump real easily, so only eat sugar free. chicken and turkey I can eat at times, but even moist, sometimes cannot tolerate it. I usually have 2 protein drinks a day to keep my protein up, and try eating all day. sometimes I am hungry, but if I try to eat something, my stomach just gurgles and I burp alot and feel lousy. I find myself grazing, as I can't really eat enough at a meal. I stick to the protein, fruits and vege rule, and rarely have anything that is a regular carb. I have some high fiber bread, 1 slice about once a day. I stay away from pasta and rice though. I just need some help with eating. I dont' want to keep losing right now. But eating should not be such a chore, should it? Thanks, and blessings, Tami |

| Whipper Snapper | Tami, I'm 4 1/2 yrs post op from rny surgery. I went through the food issue thing early post op and found out that acidity in pouch and stoma being to small were my main issue so here's my view point. First if your having such an issue with gurgles and gas I'd talk to your doctor about taking a medication like "Reglan" that might help reduce the acidity in your pouch and it may help with eating. And if your not able to eat a certain amount of food per meal like you should beable to your stoma may need to be stretched. If you have already seen a doctor about the issue then maybe you could start back to the basics for a few days just to allow your tummy time to calm down. And since your near goal you should beable to eat alot more foods then just turkey and chicken. Hugs Nikki |

| Newbie | I am going for my 6 month post op next thursday. Already on previcid. I will ask about the stoma thing next week too. Chicken and turkey are funny, sometimes I can tolerate it, other times, no go. Thanks for your input, any thing else to add will be gladly accepted. I work all day trying to get in protein, either by drinking or eating. I'm taking flaxseed and that has helped with fiber and constipation. Maybe because I am only 6 months, I haven't gotten a good appitite back yet? Thanks so much! Blessings, Tami |

| Whipper Snapper | Tami, at 6 months post op it will be hard to get in all that your suppose to. What other kind of protein (food) are you trying? How many grams of protein do you think you get in a day? And are you still chewing and taking small bites? Just remember that it's all worth it and things will work at soon. Keep your chin up.
